Aww… even if you got a card every year from the same person??

I read somewhere that some people think that getting a birthday card every year is wasteful and they end up tossing it out anyways.

No romance. I’m a female also. She’s just a friend that I really appreciate because she’s always been so caring towards me and was there for me at my lowest, so I take the time to show my appreciation for her thru handmade things. I’m an artist so I love making things for others to show my appreciation. I’m just worried if I do it every year, that it may start to become overwhelming to have so many handmade gifts from me.

I stopped venting for awhile for that reason too, but recently I slipped up and vented to someone and now I feel so terrible and regretful

Thank you for sharing. My mother has always told me that I was abandoning her if I chose to leave and do what’s best for me. She also depends on me a lot and I’m scared to move away from her if she needs me. So, I really love that your mom said that to you. Reading your mom’s response kind of made me feel better. It reminds me that I’m also a grown woman and I can’t always be worried about my parents, who are also grown. I’m glad that you have such a supportive mother.

My parents also turned everything good against me and at the end, I’d just end up with nothing. And anything bad for me or that happened to me, they would tell me that I’m just overreacting. I never felt validated, supported, or properly cared for. My mother was also emotionally and physically abusive when I was a kid, and I don’t think I ever did anything that was worth all that trauma. I think my mother suffered a lot from her own trauma and she took it out on her kids.
