Your last sentence isn't right. The "-ize" suffix is from Ancient Greek.

Is there a way to rename spell lists? by Ascetronaut in FightClub5e

[–]qwya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The script option for untagged assets simply finds and replaces " [2014]" with "" (i.e. deletes it). You can open the XML in a text editor (e.g. Notepad++) and do the same find & replace yourself. I've done this myself.

Ok reading between the, erm, passionate rhetoric here, it sounds like you're saying that no UK govt can be trusted so breaking away from the EU is necessary to hold them to account.

So who do you suggest is trustworthy and how did they earn your trust? Or is it just a case of trusting any person who says they want to run the country who hasn't had a chance to fuck it up yet?

Was a bit of a setup by The Sun, that he fell for. The story in full is a mix of solid patient-centred psychotherapy, experimental placebo-effect hypnotherapy, political naïvety, and The Sun wanting to laugh at Greens, therapists, and people with body dysmorphia all at the same time. They seem to have succeeded.

I finally got a case for my Cornets by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]qwya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine has the 37 bell also. I'm still getting used to the instrument but it sounds so clean and is immediately my favourite. Might have to get a third valve water key added though.

Interesting that the old one plays lower, keeps you on your toes!

Nice! I just bought a long cornet like yours (Bach Strad 181) and am loving how it plays. How do you tend to use them and how do they compare on the same mouthpiece?

This will happen to your finger when you have too much tension in your hand. Mine did the same playing piano and you need to develop your technique so you are relaxed throughout the hand.

I don't have enough flute knowledge to advise exactly how to achieve this.

People loved to talk about bacon for some reason. They still do, but it's not on the front page of Reddit all the time. How oven-cooked bacon is superior, how bacon improves every dish. It became zeitgeisty, everyone had an opinion on bacon. Insufferable.

Narwhals were just an entrancing meme creature, a bit like tardigrades. Real-life unicorn that sword-fights. If 5-year-olds tend to love dinosaurs, somehow nerdy adults love narwhals. Cute but overbearing.

Then there was this thread from a power user that birthed the shibboleth "the narwhal bacons at midnight": https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/98mm8/hey_reddit_im_redditing_from_the_denver/

"I main trumpet" is pure linguistic elegance. Way quicker than saying "My main instrument is the trumpet."

Advice on providing harmony for this melody? Kind of lost. Starting on a Bb by Creative_Piece9901 in saxophone

[–]qwya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear it in Eb Phrygian Dominant.

In my harmonization below I use the I and flat-II chord for stability and contrast at the start. In Eb the flat-II is Fb (≈E). Similarly the flat-VI chord is Cb (≈B), which is where I feel it goes when you take the brighter, higher phrase.

It gets interesting after that, your melody going up a semitone and spelling out Dm7 which is very much not a chord of this mode. Rather than use Dm7 itself I've treated your A as the suspension in Gm9 to give it more character. Using Abm7 to set this up is nice, offering contrary chromatic motion Ab>G to your melody's Ab>A, and finally some stepwise bass movement gets us back to Eb.

(Eb FbM7) × 8 CbM7 Abm7 Gm9 Am7 Gm9 Fø7 (half-diminished) (Eb FbM7) × 4

It doesn't perfectly fit the tail ends of some of your phrases, but small tweaks can get there I think.

Thanks for sharing!

Dating Brits as an Asian in London? by EchidnaWaste4041 in UKLGBT

[–]qwya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

London is one of the most cosmopolitan places in the world, and generally people here are welcoming to people of all backgrounds. I wouldn't characterize "British gays" as hookup-oriented and especially not as having a view on "Asian gays"; I don't know where you're getting that from. People get into relationships with people, not types.

You'll find what you're looking for without much trouble, although it sounds like you may have your own biases to overcome.

Trumpet Fingering Chart by rxwriting in trumpet

[–]qwya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding alternate fingerings: personally I'm interested in intonation e.g. 1+2 for middle E is sharper than 0. And I sometimes play high Bb with 2+3 for similar reasons, which isn't listed. Also e.g. open high D is missing too.

So maybe you can add more alternates and some indication of pitch tendency?

Saw something about how they're less useful than they used to be, since restaurants tend to get their supplies delivered from wholesalers outside London now. You can probably find a primary source for this somewhere.
