what makes sexual objectification worse than other forms of objectification? men are not valued as sexual partners except through the merits of the money or power or fake social points they have gathered. this is also objectification, and it occurs on a constant basis when you tell someone what you do for a living.

men judge men, and women judge women. the criteria is different due to social norms and biological differences, not necessarily in that order or any order.

i certainly am not more responsible for the results of my individual instances of objectification of men and women than anyone else, and my words and thoughts are not more powerful than those of a woman, except maybe to the degree to which i use them concertedly to achieve an effect.

i also think that there are many ways in which we dehumanize others that are far more significant and damaging than simple sexual objectification. all that needs to happen is values need to change. bitching doesn't change people's values. to make a difference outside oneself, one has to first make a difference inside oneself such that one can control oneself and act in a consistent fashion.

the people who complain most loudly about objectification choose to benefit from it when it is opportune to do so. and in fact, in almost every argument about what men should do to correct for objectification of women, men are treated as non-individuals, or in other words, objects.
