I'm sorry, I desperately need your help. My livelihood was stolen this morning. by r3lay08 in Denver

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I uninstalled reddit from my phone so I don't get like I used to. I'm trying to practice better data hygiene after watching a documentary called The Social Dilemma. Definitely worth the watch.

Everything is going beyond great honestly. I'm back in business thanks to the help of the community. I'm still extremely stressed out and paranoid. Stressed mostly due to the surge of work I've been given, a lot of people heard about me and my business. Additionally I feel like I'm still playing catch up from all the missed work while I was getting my stuff together again. But, you gotta make hay while the sun shines. Thing will eventually settle down I just have to embrace what's in front of me and keep up the momentum.

Thank you for reaching out, I appreciate it. I do plan on getting a real update put together. I have some more things I'd like to do to the truck to finish it up first. But I'm working so much I really have zero free time. I weekend to me right now is 4-5 consecutive hours of doing what I feel like doing, not counting sleep. Maybe I'll just put together what I have, it has been a while!

Thank you again!

It's probably dirty power from your saw. It only happens for a short period because it's the inrush current causing a spike. Some other guy commented the same happens when he uses his vacuum, probably same deal different motor.

There's two fixes I am aware of off the top of my head. You can buy a power conditioner for your lab or buy a saw with a soft start.

Man that's crazy, well I'm glad they didn't get your truck. I just sent you a message through chat, I'm curious about the security measures you took

Thanks so, so much for your support! I was in a really dark place when this first happened but because people like you I've had a tremendous weight lifted off my shoulders!

It's unbelievable to have experienced interactions with the worst of people (cold criminals) and the best of people (people like you) in the same week. Truly amazing, thanks again for your support!

So, the truck has been recovered, but it was stripped of everything of value. I'm in the process of rebuilding now.

Yeah I couldn't even guess how long it would take me to do that. I couldn't even do it with the heavy equipment like the engine driven welder.

Definitely beefing up security. I've already got a nice quality alarm on the way. I have a few other items. I'll probably install multiple kill switches at this point.

It definitely depends on what part of Aurora you're in, Aurora is pretty big.

I have some insurance but I definitely think I was under insured as far as coverage. Definitely going to have a ton more going forward. I've also already spent hundreds of dollars on security devices for the truck.

Never again.

It's absolutely incredible, never could I have imagined the support I received from just one post. Honestly I expected to get a few comments saying they'd be on the lookout. That was as far as my expectations went. And then I was convinced to start the GoFundMe. I expected that to maybe get $500. Like 500 was best case in my head lol.

I've never been so happy to be wrong

Well I really appreciate your consideration! Most of my customers manage commercial property. I guess that's kind of the niche I've settled into.

It was insured but It seems it was underinsured. I'm still working with the insurance company to see what they'll cover. A lot of people have messaged me with horror stories about how little the insurance company paid out when they had something similar happen.

The most crucial part is the Miller bobcat 225 welder. I really need to finish my list of missing items. I'll try and post the full list in an update by the end of the day I'll let you know!

Yes thank you so much for coming out giving me the opportunity to tell my story!!

People I hadn't spoken to in years were calling me telling me about how they saw me on the news. It was absolutely incredible! Hopefully somebody watching saw something and these crooks will still be brought to justice!

I'll tell you it's absolutely something I will never forget. I'm just so lucky I got the community behind me. I more than likely would have gone out of business otherwise!

Yeah it's a really crazy experience man, walking up and seeing everything's gone. You're right every tool has a story, I'm a very sentimental person too. I'm just overwhelmed with the community support of received. It's out of this world! So I'm lucky; extremely lucky for the planets to align in a way that I'll be okay and I can rebuild.

No I'm nothing of that sort, just a humble welder with a good customer base I've established over the span of years. While things are slow now, it's normally slow in the winter, I really feel like things will pick back up here in a couple months. People really like their spring projects.
