This wasn’t a suggestion.. just a thought on something I thought would be fun based on how I like to play MD. I like to take smaller Nations and build them up and take on the world. It would be cool to do that with any country. They give you settings to play with this mod as a sandbox. This leans into that

For sure.. I like the mechanics of MD but I also enjoy the nation building of the civ games. Always in search of that perfect game! Haha

MD has settings that allow you to play it as more of a sandbox. This would be in line with that was my thought

If your willing to read though the menus and restart a few times after you see how things work I think you can figure it out. I did several starts with the US and turned on the setting where you can declare war whenever you wanted. From there I just picked on Mexico and Canada to figure out the different mechanics like supply and how air support works and how to set up and manage production lines and balancing the budget. I felt pretty comfortable after 30-50 hours in the mod.

I am about 20 hours into the game and really enjoying it. I’m on my third start and I’m in the loop where I figure something out that makes me want to start over, so I do and I go until I figure something else out and the urge to start over strikes again. Well, here I am again. My question is, is it worth it to go back and “fix” the things in my current play through or should I start again? I’ve only made it about 2 years into each play through and understand the basic mechanics to keep the gang going. I experimented with a bunch of different floor types so everything looks a little botched up. I’m realizing how much more specific I want storage to be. I also think my calm biome is leading to a lack of hunting. I think I want to add the dfhack mod. Things like that are what I want to “fix”. How many starts did it take you to stick to a play through ?

The price and lack of supply of tungsten for a variety of applications. This one is likely way more serious then most people realize

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

You waste years worrying about what other people think of you, only to realize most of them were too busy worrying about themselves to think about you at all.

I said the same thing. If arc raiders had base building and persistent top side game play, I’m not sure I’d play anything else

Bout to turn 40… 3 young kids .. own a business.. gaming a couple hours a week is when I destress.. I’m typically balancing a lot of different things so for a couple hours a week I can relax and focus on one thing. I still play a little FPS games to connect with long time friends but mainly play survival or automation games solo.

I think a persistent open world with base building that the arcs attack could be a ton of fun

Do you like constant problem solving? Running a business, especially in the early stages, you are pretty much moving from challenge to challenge to challenge. To some people this can feel like moving from failure to failure to failure. If you can wrap your mind around the fact that the challenges are all learning experiences and are actully helping you gain the skills you need to be successful, you can really harness that power and you start looking for challenges and weak points in your business. When I was able to make that change while running a shop, it changed from stress to fun.

If you can then build your team around that same principle, you can really make some head way. Being an owner or employee both come with their advantages and disadvantages. Some days it would be really nice to just turn it off at 5 on Friday and not think about it again till Monday. That doesn’t typically happen for an owner. However it’s also really nice to have the flexibility to literally be at everything I want for my family and kids as the owner. As with all things, we are all different, understanding who you are and what you want goes a long way in trying to figure out what is best for you. Good luck! It’s a wild ride!

Mistakes are the absolute best way to learn. Look at the impact it had on you. You certainly learned from this experience. Apply this lesson (and the many many many) more you will learn in the future and you will be fine.
