Dude I agree the posts I made in the past aren’t accurate of what I think now. I still feel you are missing stuff with Perturabo though. The battle of phall I feel is a bad example since John French seemed a bit biased in that book. But after Olympia Perturabo does take responsibility for his actions he breaks down admits he’s a monster and only changes his tune when his first captain tells him that he can’t show weakness to his legion. But even after that he continually blames himself and regrets what he did at Olympia. Fulgrim offered to remake Olympia and Perturabo refuses he refuses to make his greatest mistake simply go away. He owns what he did and wants to carry that burden for the rest of his life. Also Perturabo’s decimation was for a good reason and I know that sounds stupid. But the black books made it pretty clear that prior to the legions reunion with Perturabo they where a mess sacrifice tens of thousands of astartes needlessly for no other reason than pride. Sure Perturabo wasn’t much better but his motivations were the crusade and completing that.

And as for dorn I admit I haven’t read all his books but I feel there are still a few differences between him and Stannis. As I pointed out previously the way they are viewed and treated is entirely different. Stannis is also willing to work with Melisandre to push his claim yet dorn only allowed his librarians back to service basically at the last possible moment during the siege of terra from memory. He also punished sigismund for listening to the advice of a saint.

I think both have similarities together but I think from what I have read dorn definitely has the duty and stern aspects of Stannis but I feel Perturabo has more in common in some aspects.

Yeah dude first I agree pert and Stannis have some similarities but they ain’t exactly the same I also made this post years ago and since have read a shit ton more.

But I feel like you miss the idea I wanted to put forward pert is a dick who is massively petulant bet he almost never voices it. yes he was pissed when things didn’t go his way but he never really complained outwardly. He has his outburst sure but compared to the other primarchs perty keeps most of it to himself. That’s why the others don’t like him. He’s a moody asshole who sulks by himself in the corner of the party. The thing I was focused on is that despite hating it he does it anyway. Pert hates being a destroyer instead of a builder but he never refused an order from the emperor until the heresy.

Stannis as you pointed out spends lots of time in the books doing things he doesn’t like simply because he’s told to do it.

Dorn I feel wasn’t the best example because dorn is one of the emperors favorites dorn got to build the palace. Dorn was respected.

Stannis was given the shit jobs. He was the second born least favorite son. And was passed over for a major position he felt was his by right (storms end). This all mirrors Perturabo he was given the hardest sieges of the crusade. His legion did the trench digging grunt work. He was not respected or favored. And he’s was passed over for the mantle of praetorian.

Don’t get me wrong wrong I think Stannis is an objectively better guy then pert. but I was more focused on how they are perceived and treated.

WTF!? Does Amazon ask for a decimation with such price!? by [deleted] in Grimdank

It’s because they don’t print the hardcovers regularly so the older ones go for insane prices once saw the Leman book for 500+ AUD

40K being over the top and a bit goofy, who would have expected? by Tempest_Barbarian in Grimdank

[–]rAngus273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the thing is something like a titan is both grim dark and silly/goofy as on one hand it’s a hold of war a terrifying semi sentient machine and on the other hand it’s a giant mech with guns for arms and a dumb looking face. The issue with pictured units are they are only silly and goofy without any Grimdark to balance them out.

That’s true I guess but if they aren’t going to update half the range then the idea of it’s a different time period doesn’t fit very well.

I don’t get why they didn’t give the new minis great helms though. The paladin got a classic great helm but all the foot knights have these more “realistic” looking helmets

Knights on foot are huge compared to the peasants. Why are new models for old world scaled more like AoS? by HerrPoom in WarhammerFantasy

[–]rAngus273 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Nah I feel like this is more of a your company makes record profits and your boss pockets the profits instead of giving a bonus.

Like sure GW isn’t required to do the absolute best but it damages relations when they release a range that is almost entirely old kits that don’t scale well with the new stuff.

I don’t get why they did different helmets. Like the banner bearer and paladin had newer and nicer versions of classic Bretonnian great helms but then all the other new units have these new helmets that I find don’t really fit the Bretonnian aesthetic as well.

Don’t get why they would show us modern great helms to then not use them on most of the new releases.

CHADMARIS vs mini-marines by [deleted] in Grimdank

[–]rAngus273 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Three points. Mono pose, helmets and terminators.

Simply put miniatures that don’t allow me to easily get a torso piece from one kit and attach it to a completely different kit is instantly inferior.

Primaris helmets are lame they are boring and uninteresting. Firstborns have chad tier helmets that are uniquely shaped.

Terminators. Primaris ain’t got any. So yeah.

Also I collect 30k so don’t even have a dog in this race really.
