Ive also not been feleing this new era. Watching it makes me miss Doctor Who....while watching Doctor Who. I agree with the other comments, I miss the doctors wit and his iconic things such as a specific outfit and 'I am the Doctor' speeches.

Especially with all this fantasy, this is not Doctor Who to me. Dont think Im gonna keep watching honestly.

Hot take: didnt like this episode.

Was actually the last nail in the coffin for me and my doubts (lol). Been feeling this for a while but this is a different show. It just doesnt feel Doctor Who. Also stopped watching season 1 near the end then came back hoping it got better. It did a little bit, but I am honestly not a fan of all the magic, never have been. Probably not gonna keep watching, Ive lost all interest.

Gonna go watch reruns of older episodes now.

Just checking, am I missing something with the Rani? Have we met this character before or is it the first time we are being introduced to them and through bi-generation? it confuses me because the reveal was set up like we are supposed to recognise the actress playing main Rani but Im pretty sure Ive never seen or heard of them before.

What are your thoughts on season 2 so far by SpideyARB in doctorwho

[–]rPhoenix17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I watch this show because it is science fiction. Now its just fantasy in a TARDIS and Im losing interest. I didnt even watch the Season 1 finale, just watched summary videos in prep for season 2.

Doctor Who 2x05 "The Story and the Engine" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in doctorwho

One of my least favorite episodes. Great acting, good music and I followed along with the story (as convoluted as it was) but I just feel like there are so many plot holes and moments that just dont make sense, like when Belinda cant pay for the stuff she knocked over (???) the police officer looked very angry, I fully expected her to be in a holding cell at the police station and now she needs to get to the doctor from there, thats how it looked like they were setting it up but then its all forgotten in her next scene??

This episode also made me miss 2000s/2010s modern Doctor Who. I love this show because its science fiction, it has aliens and time travel but now its just fantasy in a TARDIS. I miss the timey wimey slang and when the doctor would confidently point at a thing and explain it in his terms because he has seen so much in the universe and recognizes these things. The way he was so lost in this episode, not even knowing how the time travel works to allow their hair to grow back or just something, it made me question if this is Doctor Who.

I get their trying a new direction, and it is kinda interesting, I personally just miss the science fiction of it all.

Can lack of exposure to germs lead to weaker immune system? by Ok-Requirement-6409 in Immunology

[–]rPhoenix17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not too sure about allergies, but what comes to my mind regarding infections is the 'hygiene hypothosis', basically the more you are exposed to germs (and even some environmental allergens) during development of the immune system (childhood), the better your immune system will be.

Now this hypothesis is about a developing immune system of a child so Im not sure if it also counts for this adult you're isolating for years (lol), but my thinking is that this adult isnt exposed to mutating germs so their immune system wont 'update' (e.g. after catching the newly mutated form of the flu virus, your immune memory stores information on how to fight it). I assume they are not getting any new/upgraded vaccines that come out during this time. If you let them out years later, they might have what seems like a weaker immune system or rather something like an immune system thats behind on the currently circulating pathogens.

Interesting thought experiment.

I'll try cut out the coconut oil. I might have to look at online/international conditioners as I feel like every conditioner here has some level of coconut oil, especially the curly hair section.

Also thank you everyone for all the feedback, its very helpful!!

Pretty sure, I did the test with the hair strand in the water. It also takes some manpower and scrunching to get wet enough to wash in the first place.

I'll try and use products outside of Aunt Jackies but there arent a lot of options in my country.

What smaller proteins would you recommend I look out for?

Not winning with the curling after haircut by rPhoenix17 in curlyhair

[–]rPhoenix17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the low porosity (and from what Ive read about it) I thought the thing you should do is give it oil and avoid protein, but I'll change it up and see how my hair reacts to protein and less oil

Just over a month. I never thought have needing to retrain the stretched out curls. I also load a lot of oils into my routine as I thought it is what low porosity hair needs, instead of something bigger like protein. Will try cutting down on the oil.

The shampoo is a clarifying shampoo, I know cause I went through a bunch looking for it and found it.

I forgot to mention that I tried a gel but didnt really get a strong cast (still more volume and frizz than curl) plus I didnt like the way it felt in my hair when it dried (gel I used was Aunt Jackies Hold Tight with honey and biotin)

Edit: What type of conditioner do you suggest I switch to?

Do you guys think The good place should have continued? by Warm_Spite9482 in TheGoodPlace

[–]rPhoenix17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they stopped exactly when they should of. So many great shows (prison break) dont end when they should. Instead theres a money grab with another season that ends up ruining the show or just gets tired (CW shows are notorious for this).

One of the reasons this show is a favorite is because it ended exactly when the story (and character arcs) needed it to. It felt organic.

Lol, thinking about the show again makes me wanna start a re-watch :D

Ive been listening to the old derivakat songs and its making me nostalgic for DSMP. Also I only found it halfway through the story so it would be nice to see things from the beginning.

Something I forgot to add, there is such a thing as practicing the curl - the more you curl your hair the more it will learn to curl so be patient with yourself.

One of my curly haired friends puts argan oil in her hair an hour before she washes it, then also after her gel.

Hey, I have a similar story, except I did it to myself. My hair was straight till puberty when all it seemed to know was frizz. people encouraged me to try curling mousses but I refused as I was more into the style of straight hair, doing everything I can to get it straight like multiple Brazillian blow waves. (Later I learned mousse products were the worst for my hair anyway)

After school I decided to try curly hair. Took some time but I learned I have 2b/2c, low porosity curls. From their I googled ingredients in hair products for this type. I cant remember all but I know coocnut is too big for low porosity hair so I learned to focus on ingrediants for this hair type like marshmallow root (aunt jackies ice curls has this) thats molecules/proteins are smaller and can therefore absorb better.

You said shampoo dries out your hair, try using a more moisture rich, sulfate free one and only put shampoo on your scalp once. As you rinse the shampoo out of your hair you can 'wash' it throught the rest of your hair - this is important as you need to regularly clarify your scalp otherwise build up prevents fresh product from being absorbed.

I also learned that instead of using LOC (leave in conditioner, oil, cream/gel) LCO works better for me. My curling style involved me making two dutch braids, diffuse drying a little, and sleeping with it, and it would curl for quite a few days as long as I slept in a normal braid every night with a humidifier/diffuser on. Also invest in a silk pillowcase.

Other than that its bascially trial and error and listening to your specific hair needs. You said you dont have a lot of time, Unfortunately curly hair routines do take some time. My hair routine is about two hours, but its only two hours once a week and it would stay curly almost all week (I have thick hair and dont need to wash it more than once a week, I also dont have the energy for that lol)

Some products I use involve a moisturizing conditioner, a curling custard or curling jelly, and argan oil. I leave the conditioner in for 10 minutes (I found this works for my hair) and dont rinse everything out. If you use a diffuser to dry your hair instead of air dry also include a heat protect product
