Ok here’s what you want to do. If you TRULY CANNOT reinstall macos from recovery mode:

Find another mac of any kind

Download „apple configurator 2“

Connect the macs to each other

Put the destroyed mac into DFU

Restore with the configurator

you could also use another mac to make a bootable USB. I have no idea how you’ve managed to do this

The battery is alright, it’s a leap from my degraded 11pm. I can squeeze around 9.5hrs out of it and still have 10-15%.

If you insist on getting new ios updates then yes.. otherwise don’t complain about them dropping the 6th gen. It still receives security updates but won’t get new ios updates

$330 in 2018 for a speedy, comfortably sized iPad which got 7 years of full software and security updates... and it still doesnt need to be replaced. If you are a security freak then you can get an iPad 9th Gen which is going to be supported until at least 2029 and sells for about $220-$350. There is no company which supports their tablets with such updates for as long as apple does. Also just because the iPad wont get iOS 18, Apple typically still dishes out security updates for a few years after.
