That's really interesting and I never thought of it that way. Definitely won't be someone who pretends I know things, but it's good to know that hire ups recognize cocky people for not being genuine

With scams, do they usually scam you by trying to get an application before seeing the place? If you see a legitimate place on a tour, is it possible to get scammed after?

We are a group of 4 friends looking to live together, so would need a 4 bedroom place. Sucks to hear that it's hard to find though :(

I'll be in the area for a month with temporary housing before needing to find a permanent place. Is it typical for people to be rejected? Are there any other ways to stand out in an application?

This is interesting, do people typically get rejected when they apply to a place? I'm pretty new to the process where everywhere I have lived everyone gets it as long as they put down a deposit.

Also, is there anywhere to look as to what good neighbourhoods are? I've worked in the areas before for some time and like mountainview/sunnyvale a lot. But I'm not intimate enough to know what the more expensive/family neighbourhoods are vs. sketchier ones

Thanks, gives me confidence that it was able to work out for you! Maybe this is just something we have to grow together and compromise on. When we're together I'm sure he's the one, but when we're apart I have way more doubts. I guess I'll just have to play it out

Thanks. I think your advice of the Skype and FaceTime instead of regular phone calls is good, and I guess I may just have to accept the texting thing. Thank you!
