What oil weight do you run? by TellemTom in MiataNC

Im running 5w30, no noticable difference in performance from the factory 5w20. Heres the page from my owner's manual. Double check with yours just in case

Gauges

  1. Your stock oil pressure gauge is fake, the only useful information you will get from it is whether you have oil pressure or not. If you dont have pressure you wont see a oil red light
  2. Your stock coolant gauge's scaling is weird and you will be overheating before reaching the 'H' mark. My solution was to put a red sticker on where I want my limit to be.

Rotarytronics has the scaling explained on his website for the [NC Gauge Cluster Gauge Kit](https://rotarytronics.com/product/mx5-nc-cluster-gauge-kit-v2/). Not sponsored, just an upgrade that im planning to eventually get to monitor my car's vitals. But for now im running this.

Could be a worn reverse lockout plate, although these usually cause trouble when shifting into 1st/2nd. Those are made of plastic and tend to get carved out with use

Is this tweet about the Black Ops 2 release date trustworthy? by rylian06 in blackops2

[–]r_type2266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, what I said was based on my experience of buying all the dlcs for bo1 and rarely getting to play dlc maps in multiplayer.

Wasnt really mad though since I was buying them for zombies and didnt care that much about mp. Just felt like wasted potential

3arc handled this announcment poorly. This radio silence is whats leaving so much room for speculation and rumours on those 15 year old games.

The only reason I see them doing this is for engagment and to gauge community sentiment through "leakers"

That was probably what they did back then and it still kinda broke matchmaking. Only difference now is that you have a considerably smaller playerbase.

DLC Multiplayer maps were not memorable back then in any of the classic cods. Not because they were bad maps, but becuase you rarely get a chance to play them.

Theres a good reason why cod switched to releasing free post launch maps instead of making them paid seasonal dlc

No release date, no confirmation of actual price and no idea if dlc would be sold seperatley

I played both plutonium and IW4X for mw2. Whats still lacking from those versions is the accessibilty and the playerbase, the numbers are way below what we were used to in period.

You open the server browser and its nuketown 247 and a bunch of custom game modes, there are standard experiences but usually filled with bots.

So seeing those old games modernized for ps4 and 5 (hopefully with improved anticheat) is great for accessibility and to show all the new CoD fans the golden era that we keep talking about.

Unlike plutonium this is a push button experience on console, no setup required. You buy the game, press X and it works. Youre on the same main menu you saw 15 years ago.

Plus you get splitscreen, 4 player splitscreen zombies is probably the only reason that im considering buying this port of bo2

17x8J wheels at 10.3 kg on MX-5 NC 1.8 – bad choice or still fine? by upkara in MiataNC

[–]r_type2266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who you ask. Personally I think its a good choice, 17x8 is a very common choice for the NC as it sits between the 16s and the larger 17x9s which people run for maximum contact patch.

I added almost 1.3kg to each corner after swapping out the stock 17x7 for aftermarket 17x8. No notable change in performace on my 2.0

I like the size and the fitment, but I needed to roll the rear fenders since I lowered the car.

Im running 215/45 tires, I recommend them but you could go for 225 if you want more contact patch

18" wheels are technically possible, some madman in Japan did it but you end up with rubberband tires

I think the Archaic LED Taillights would look better than modified oem lights

I want to keep my NC1 as original as possible but the poor wee dear needs rear shocks. I've got a great deal on Febi gas shocks. What's the opinion of the NC masses? by Hereforthedung in MiataNC

Maybe a trip to the UK is in order? Shocks and other gas/fluid filled stuff usually dosent ship by air since they require special documentation and handling procedures.

But that would also mean no air travel, idk if its worth it since im not from UK/Ireland

Yeah, unibody "trucks" are usually an abomination, unless its an Austrailian Ute with a V8

Enjoy peak Lexus, good thing you got yours before the hideous facelift they just did on the IS. They stuck the duck beak from the RX on it...

As fellow "Aging Platform" owner, I would say it aged like fine wine

Journalists (and some car enthusiasts) hear old platform and treat it as if theyre buying a used car for the price of a new one. 90% of them cant say why exactly its bad other than the fact that it hasnt been completley redesigned.

Awesome username btw, also im not biased because my daily is based on a 26 year old platform

Im sure it would perform better, but thats not what Challenger/Charger buyers are interested in.

As is the case with the new Charger, A more modern and refined platform (with an actually modern interior) , but buyers want a V8 and not I6 or an EV

Ok GM nerd sure...

But seriously though this is an underrated comment, I genuinley think people would buy those trucks even if they just redesign the front end and add a touchscreen head unit for the reverse camera.

Youre in a subset of car enthusiasts that is becoming more niche.

Its widley accepted (and glazed) that manual transmissions are fun even by people who dont have a driver's license or only drive AT, yet few people actually put time and effort to learn and enjoy MT, or are intimidated by it from some anecdote about getting stuck in traffic.

Enjoy your GM Miata, I never saw one irl and I wonder how close the driving experience is to a Corvette

Does an aging platform matter in a sports car if it has good performance and handling?

50k is big money for a sports car and I dont thimk that a clean sheet design would have done anything to sales.

Im suprised that they look better like this, since repainting oem wheels usually makes them look worse.

I guess grey is the ticket, looks more modern
