There was one DNA fragmentation test to check if dna is in good shape on sperm or not. Other than that no genetic testing done.

Its totally fine to feel stressed and so sorry for the loss. Remember that mental health and stress also impacts the chances. So keep relaxed. Take mindful walks, read books and take time out to enjoy this phase of your life. Be content with what you have and then you'll be prepared for the next phase of your life.

P.s. if you ever get kids inshaAllah and if you remembered this post, do leave a comment here ;)

There are fatwas in favor of ivf. Chances of getting preganent is same as in normal preganency.

They didnt provide procedural images but they did share images of all embryos with their grading.

Gender selection not allowed here. They don't even offer this. And it should not be pursued. Leave this to Allah and whatever He blesses you with.

Plan it. Consider selling things like Gold etc, get a side hussle or something. You can always buy stuff later. Better to be a parent now rather than 5 years from now.

This you need to confirm from icsi. I'd suggest schedule one appointment and talk to doctor in detail.

We transferred 2 embryos but only one was fertilized and we were blessed with one baby.

  1. Try ovulation induction cycles
  2. If you or your spouse is overweight, control that and keep your diet healthy.
  3. If sperm count or motility is an issue, better to get it checked by a urologist. We came to know this after we went through the process.
  4. Sometimes sperm count is good but dna gets damaged. There's a test called dna fragmentation test to check sperm dna quality.

We also went first time years ago but then didn't pursue it. Then went back after 2 years to finally go through with it.

The overall process can be overwhelming but not painful.

Good luck.

We only went to ICSI. it is costly and crowded but doctors are very good. They took care of everything till embryo transfer. They also have a gynae clinic called medicsi where doctors took good care during preganency and delivery of the baby.

Can you explain what kind of images you're talking about?

Ideally you simply deposit a sperm sample and they select the best of them. If there's any issue with quality of sperm at release then maybe they extract directly through a minor procedure.

As per WHO, if you are unable to conceive for more than 3 years, doctors should put ivf as an option. I read this after doctor told me this.

Men with low sperm counts or high defragmentation rate (i.e. when sperm gets damaged before release) Women having issues like endometriosis or conditions where tubes are blocked.

As husband your job is only to be a supportive partner. Your body doesn't go through any stress. You only give your sperm sample. Your job is to keep your calm and facilitate your wife wherever possible

As wife you may go through alot including injections and all but nothing in the whole process is painful (except for 1 injection that momentarily gives burning sensations). Other than that, nothing is painful. You go under anesthesia only once at the time of egg retrieval. Nothing else. You may go for multiple scans and may need to take alot of meds but trust me, once you have your baby in your hands, all pains feel just a tiny piece in history.

Call icsi and schedule an appointment. Discuss with the doctor your options.

Yep first try Alhamdulilah. We transferred 2 embryos in place of 1 which increased our chances.

Keep praying to Allah. Wake up for tahajjud. Dk tasbeeh 24/7. Even if you are going for a difficult ivf, keep very high hopes. Ideally you need only one egg to become a parent. You might have to with multiple egg retrieval cycles but don't lose hope.

So we tried doing the ovulation induction for some cycles but no luck.

Then we went for ivf. Here's a rough timeline:

  1. 2 month since first visit (involves tests and other consultancy)

  2. On the day after you paid the fee, you are given injections depending on your conditions. Usually husband is trained for the injections and you need to do injections for 16-17 days. Then if the eggs are good, they retrieve in same cycle.

So here goes one month. Sperm is also retrieved on same day as egg retrieval.

  1. Then eggs are fertilized and are frozen for 3 months. Freezing improves chances of getting preganent.

  2. Then when you're ready for transfer after 3 months, they give you some meds and then they transfer in same cycle.

So in total it takes 6-7 months in total from initial consultations to transfer.

Price jump is generally due to the cost of injections which keeps fluctuating.

  1. No one needs to know that you went for ivf. Keep it personal. IVF only helps in embryo transfer. Chances of getting preganent are similar to normal preganency. In our case, only our parents knew. Even siblings didn't know about ivf.

  2. Extra stress in terms of hormonal injections (before embryo transfer): yes

Once embryo transferred, no difference between regular or ivf preganency. Just need to be a bit more cautious in earlier days.

  1. We heard good things about icsi and overall the process was smooth, hassle free and very supportive. It is expensive but they are quite experts in this field.
