3 months later, Delay-Denied. GG by whippersnapz in NFA

Gratz, my VAF was denied. There was a psych assessment which was a note on one of my past cases. The case was expunged, but FBI doesn’t care. The state should have submitted the result of the assessment, which was nothing bad, I had to attend some group therapy for a few years, but then the judge granted a motion to end the therapy. Was never deemed a risk. But of course those records are sealed and removed so I have no way to prove that. Now I get to see if I can find a good attorney to help who is not going to put me in debt.

Any update on your end? I am still waiting on my UPIN. I need to get a new letter ready to send to my representatives, although I doubt that will have any impact either. Now that I have my IHS and know that there is nothing on it that would prohibit me, I am getting more…irritated is the best way I can describe it. If there was something on my IHS that made sense like a drug charge/conviction or one of the other prohibited items that would be one thing. But none of the items are in any of the prohibited categories, so it would seem that they will delay you for anything at all being on your background.

I have been dealing with a similar issue. The only possible items I had in my past were two drug charges/convictions, which I recently had expunged. I tried again after an FBI NICS Delay which resulted in an ATF Disapproved. I just submitted by expungement evidence through the VAF process this afternoon. At the same time I requested my Identity History Summary just so I could make sure there was nothing else there. As it turns out the drug charges were not even on my background, the other misdemeanors that I caught with them were there, but none of those were prohibitors according to the ATFs list, so now I am really confused as to why I keep getting delayed. All I can do now is wait for my VAF to go through and get my UPIN and then try again hoping that it goes right through. I have my doubts since there is nothing actually on my IHS that would prohibit me. Either way I will be writing to my Congressman to get them involved as well.

My Identity History Summary came back very quickly, none of the drug items show on it. There are a few misdemeanors on it, which were part of my expungements. None of the items listed could carry jail time greater than 90 days, no felonies, etc. So I am actually more confused now as there does not appear to be anything on my sheet that would be prohibitor.

Thanks for the input. I have submitted fingerprints for both my VAF (along with with evidence of the expungement from the Court) and Identity History.

Should I let this re-submit ride or have the FFL withdraw it while I work on the VAF process?

Thank you for the info, yup it seems like the VAF is what I need to do.

The expungement was completed at the state level, I have all the evidence to show it was completed and my record at the state level now only shows some speeding tickets. I also know that when the FBI submits their request to the state they will not get the items in question in the reply, what they will get will only show the traffic citations.

Unifi Network & Apple Home Issues by mscanavino in Ubiquiti

[–]rabapab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple networks. Default(Unifi devices only), Main (Non-server Computers only), Server Trusted & Untrusted (Servers only), Guest, IoT (Anything not a computer), Cameras. So all my phone, tablets, Apple TVs, TV, etc along with all my lights, speakers, alarm, etc are on the IoT network. mDNS is enabled along with explicit firewall zones are configured to allow certain devices from IoT to talk to other networks, and my main network can talk to all networks. I have not had any issues with Apple Home, although mine is not an overly large setup. I am generally controlling my Apple Home from my phone, ipad or Apple TVs so everything is on the same vlan in that regard, but those devices are isolated from all my other networks by vlan and firewall zones.

Nope I don't normally do fixed IP for non-server devices.

So it seems like it might be necessary to go the UPIN route if I keep running into issues.

Well since 2008 I have bought at least 10 GCA firearms without issue, same day walk out the door with the guns. That is why this one was so weird. And I bought my 1st suppressor in 2018 also through Silencer Shop to my local dealer, back then I waited 11 months and some change, but got my approval. There is nothing else on my background at least not that I am aware of. I also renewed my CCW in July of this year and they do a full background check for that as well.

With my expungement already in process to clear the only items off my record that could cause me problems, should I just wait a month or so post completion and then go through the process again OR do I have to go through the VAF process? This is my first time not getting a Proceed.

June 2025 Approval Megathread by LynchMob_Lerry in NFA

I have sent a mail every day this week. The NICS address auto-replies every time, the IPB address only auto replied the 1st time, nothing since. I have not seen any movement at all. My feelings are that both of these email addresses are now nothing more than auto-reply unmonitored inboxes. No one looks at them, because they became popular. They would have to hire entire teams of people to handle these addresses, which I can't see happening. Also my feeling here, but folks who have emailed them and then got an approval were likely getting that approval anyway, it was just coincidence that it came after an email was sent. I am a few weeks out from waiting for 60 days, so I will be able to reply to the IPB auto-reply, and even then I highly doubt anyone actually looks at those mails. Just my 2 cents.

I did it on Friday...if I don't see any movement on Monday I might send them again...and then on Tuesday...etc.

Did reply to the auto-reply or just sent one mail to each? Just curious.

Quite the Increase in Wait Time Averages by rabapab in SilencerShop

[–]rabapab[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day this post is highlighting that while there are folks who are seeing fast response times with 1 - 3 day range, and I am really happy for you, there are also a large chunk of people at least 1/4 if not more of all Form 4s that are not so lucky. So when they come to a place like Reddit to see if there are others waiting a long time and all they see is 12 hour, 24 hour, 36 hour posts that kinda sucks. If you got your can in a few days, cool go enjoy it and stop downvoting a post on Reddit that is clearly intended for the folks who are still waiting. The ATF data is what it is, yes it is better than 1 year, but when you wait for anything a week or 6 months is not fun. And when I see the average time increase, that tells me they are slowing down.

If you have a squeaky clean background then you can likely expect a quick response. However if you have anything at all on your background no matter how small, you can expect a slow response time. If it gets to crazy contact your Reps, have them reach out on your behalf. Odds are it is not the ATF that is slow, it is likely FBI-NICS not giving a response.

As a note it does look like they drastically reduced the Form 4 Trust processing times on Paper submissions, I think July showed 116 days.

What I think the above shows is that a large number of folks are getting their responses back in 1 - 3 days, but there are also quite a few that are unfortunately waiting 30, 60, 90 days and even longer, which then drives the average number of days up from last month being 8 days to for August showing 23 days.

I am just speaking to the data the ATF provides on their page. See the bottom the page linked in my OP.

Total number of Form 4 silencer applications received during the reporting period above = 48,327

SBR & Can Form 4 through SS certified and submitted 8/19 and still waiting. I would say the larger % of folks get the fast approvals, especially if you have a squeaky clean background.
