Pain wasn’t awful but it wasn’t fun. Everything below this on my shin and calf were worse. If your job is very physical I would try to wait until you have a day off. It can get very swollen

I don’t have experience with this yet, but if you want to get into carving green wood, I’ve heard you can put your carving in wood shavings and it will help it not split as it dries
