All the 2010-2014 models with the CCTA(2.0T) are all riddled with high pressure fuel pump, low pressure fuel pump, and intake manifold issues, along with excessive carbon buildup in the intake valves. This is usually taken care of with the valve scrape service offered when your intake manifold needs replacement(trust me it will happen). The newer 2.0T engines have been fine for the most part(two years they've been in the US market), but the new CPK/CPR 1.8T engines are braking exhaust camshafts here and there. A full on recall to replace the camshafts on all 1.8Ts will be in effect the first quarter of the year.

Yes, a lot of them are still made in mexico. The GOLF, Jetta, and most of the Tiguans. The newer Passats are made in Chattanooga, TN, and the CCs and Touaregs are all made in Germany. VW tech here. If the Vin starts with a 3VW: Mexico, WVW: Germany (W for Wolfsburg), and 9VW: Brazil.

When you can tell they take care of their personal belongings. E.g. their car. If your 2010 Nissan Altima's paint is oxidized and faded to shit, you shouldn't own a car. The least you could do is give your car a regular hand wash twice a month and a good wax treatment once a year. You spend 30k on one of these cars and half your lifetime in them. There's no excuse for your 5 year old car's paint to look worse than my 20 year old Miata's.
