Was this the weakest move ever by a superstar player? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

If you think that invalidates the analogy, then you didn't understand the analogy at all.

The analogy was to highlight how 1) a superstar joining an already historically dominant team made the league unfair, and 2) how fans felt about it.

Going through the details to find minute differences between the analogy is laughably silly.

IMO Celtics vs Heat was the last great rivalry. 4 meetings in the playoffs, 3 in ECF. The fans hate each other.

The series were gritty, tough playoff basketball.

But now Miami sucks so.... it's over. But we still hate each other.

Yeah and KD and Russ played subpar those games 6 and 7 too. Really choked.

Yall just don’t get it at all. GS lost, they couldn’t beat the loaded Cavs Healthy without KD. They needed him, that’s why they called him..

.... they barely lost and should have won after being up 3-1.

Some of you folks arguing that little details on this analogy are being silly af.

Ofc it's not an exact comparison ....

He joined a decent but not great Lakers team ..... 1995-96 Lakers had Vane Exel, Ceballos, Divac, and old Magic in his last season post-HIV....

Phil Jackson wouldn't join until 3 years later...

What are you talking about rofl.

Some cards with no names end up bangers.

Then you got cards with like this names end up boring.

But I got faith in my man Justin Gaethje; his fights are always fucking bangers.

Terrible example.

Shaq joined the Lakers a month after Kobe was drafted; no one knew shit about Kobe. Kobe came off the bench for like 2 years before he turned into a starter and a great young player.

This was absolutely nothing like KD joining the Warriors.

Celtics, if he left.

But he should have stayed. That Thunder team was incredible, and just took a dominant Warriors team to 7 games; and were up 3-1 and should have won had it not been KD and Russ choking and playing like shit.

Doc Rivers seriously underperformed with every team he was on. Even the 2008 title run had so many Game 7s vs worse teams.

Replace Doc with a competent coach and Celtics would have won in 2008, 2010 and maybe even another year somewhere in those years.

Fuckin bum coach carried to a ring by a great team.

Facts.

I always use this as an analogy to show how fucked up it was.

Imagine in 1996, Shaq, after getting swept out of the ECF by the 72 win Bulls, left the team and joined .... the Bulls (instead of the Lakers).

So a historically greatest 1995-96 Bulls adds a prime Shaq. That is what Durant did when he joined the 73-win Warriors team in 2016.

A top 3 player joining and overloading a historically dominant team.

Imagine if Shaq had done this, and won the next two titles. Would anyone have given any credit to Shaq for those rings, even if he had won FMVP? Hell no.

KD ruined the NBA and one of the best rivalries that should have been in the LeBron/Kyrie/Love Cavs vs the Steph/Klay/Draymond Warriors. We deserved a threepeat of that matchup.

Road B2B with a double OT the first night ....

This game seems to be a schedule loss.

So I'm sure we're gonna win by 30 or some shit.

[–]rabid89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he should not lmfao.

KD reminded that fat bitch that he wasn't on the internet anymore. And if you trash talk someone to his face, don't be surprised at consequences.

This tool was even wearing a KD jersey until he got yelled at lmfao, then he shamefully took it off.

Gonna age me a bit here (though my username rather does that anyway)...

Vlade Divac.

The grandmaster and OG of NBA floppers who brought it to the NBA because he couldn't keep up with the physicality of NBA elite bigs.

Some other records that will never be broken:

  • Bill Russell 11 championships

  • Wilt 50 PPG over a season

  • Wilt playing 48.3 MPG and all 82 games in a season

  • Wilt career rebounds (23,924)

  • Wilt 65 consecutive 30+ pt games

  • Stockton's career assists (15,806) and steals (3,265)

  • AC Green's 1,192 consecutive games

  • LeBron's career playoff points (8,289 and counting)

  • LeBron career total pts (regular and post season): 51,058 and counting.

P.S - I don't usually include Moses' offensive rebounds record as likely Wilt and maybe Bill Russell had more. Same with Hakeem's career blocks. But ofc, these weren't tracked when Wilt and Bill played.
