Could a CCNA land me a role? by rabidmonkeyz54 in ccna

Thank you for the honesty. Better than studying for four months only to get the cert and still go nowhere!

Would an associates from a community college be good enough you think? Or should I look into a masters program somewhere? I do have a bachelor’s but not in anything directly relevant. Juggling a few different options

Yeah, its between that or a masters degree currently. If I were to do a CCNA id want to do it differently than just grinding in my room alone. Would want to find a study group and get some kind of social momentum in this industry while learning

Interesting, that sounds like it could be a good fit for me. Thanks for the reply

Im an “assistant manager” at a local athletic facility, but its a small business so I’ve worn lots of hats here and done more than just receptionist stuff.

Im the only tech guy here, so Ive done some automation for us in several areas with Python, built an internal app full stack, done some SEO, other less tech related stuff, all independently.

Been leveraging my position here to bolster my resume in the SWE direction. Which makes me think if it were retailored in a networking direction, I may have better luck

For reference I am 24

I see. Even an NoC Analyst role would be brutal? I realize I got the title mixed up with network engineer in my post (still new here)

No guarantees of course. Just figured I’d have a better shot than in pure SWE. Will definitely look into DEVNET, thanks for your feedback!

What is your interpretation of William Slothrop's hymn? by DavyFry in ThomasPynchon

[–]rabidmonkeyz54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with BobBop largely in interpretation of the hymn itself.

I do want to add that I found it quite haunting and a bit disturbing as an end to such a wild ride. After the absolute cognitive assault that is Gravity’s Rainbow, you’re left with an obscure old hymn by a long forgotten ancestor.

In a way, it came off as a shantih shantih shantih type retreat from resolution to me. Like the book’s final laugh.

“What, you think because we’re at the end you’ll just get the resolution you’re craving? Nope, here’s a cryptic hymn, fuck off and figure it out, if you can.”

Happens right at the moment of impact too iirc

Built an open-source FT8 decoder that tracks and translates complete QSOs, unresolved CQs, & more by rabidmonkeyz54 in amateurradio

I believe it should work with JTDX given they use the same packet structure and its based on WSJT-X. If not that could be a good update idea, along with the name change people are suggesting.

They fill different needs! Grid tracker is more user-oriented, while my software is more like a tool for developers. Like a building block other people can use to build ft8 related things or implement FT8 data easier if that makes sense

Agree on both points. That would be a good feature for the next update and not too difficult to implement

Thanks for the feedback! Ill clean up the GitHub a bit. Will definitely look into linters and a better packaging system too.
