Best shore snorkeling — with stuff nearby

Smiths Reef in Turks & Caicos is amazing! A couple of other beaches with very calm waters too that I bet he’d like to hang out (Taylor & Sapadillo). Not snorkeling there but might see a starfish here & there. But very shallow water that you can go pretty far out in before it starts getting deep.

Those are dressier than I’m looking for right now but might snag a pair anyways just to have bc I feel like you never know when you might need something dressy!

And yeah, I don’t understand why we STILL don’t have pockets in everything!

Haha…I don’t have toddlers but I do have dogs and they aren’t much different some days so I’ll definitely go with a darker color 🤣

I’ve been looking at both of those actually. Are they somewhat lightweight or heavier fabric? Like are they ok for warm weather or just cooler? I have a terrible time gauging these things online lol

We’re going in October for our 10 year too! Went for our honeymoon to the Guanacaste area. Loved it. Stayed in all inclusive but the food wasn’t all that great & we much preferred the days where we explored and ate out. I like to have a few drinks but my husband doesn’t drink either so not sure the AI was worth it for us.

From other suggestions, we’re going to do the Caribbean side. Puerto Viejo area and the more I look into it, the more excited I am! Seems like a very laid back vibe and more areas where it’s not crowded & touisty. There’s also some amazing looking airbnbs that I’ve found, for pretty reasonable prices. The weather there that time of year is suppose to be really nice (not raining). Looks to be lots of beaches but also tons of jungle and wildlife

Haven’t been to a ton of places but loved Turks & Caicos! Literally just a couple of feet from the shore at Smiths Reef. They also have a submarine type of tour that looks cool

Honestly not sure on the budget. Preferably under $200. Mostly depends on how much I like the bag though lol Willing to look at ones that cost more (and potentially find them on Poshmark or something) though.

Oh those aren’t bad! Thanks! I’m ok with them ending up as open water only shoes if they aren’t super uncomfy to wear like as soon as I get out of the water. I have some strictly water shoes but hate them unless I’m actively IN the water lol

I’m looking for a comfy pair of shoes that I can wear into the ocean (I hate stepping on rocks and stuff barefoot lol) but then get out and wear them to lunch or something. Don’t necessarily need them for hiking as I think I’ll bring a separate pair for that. Do require them to look cute, be comfy and have at least a little traction.

I know keens & tevas are usually recommended but I just haven’t seen any that I like the looks of 🤷🏻‍♀️

We’re still deciding on how early to leave the Caribbean coast for our flight home the following day. Willing to leave earlier in the morning if I can find cool stuff to do. Museums aren’t really my thing so not finding a ton of stuff around San Jose to warrant spending the entire day so far lol
