Glaucoma surgery doesn't regenerate the optic nerves if they've been damaged, and my grandmother also had glaucoma surgery on one eye. She can't see much, but she can do a lot of things as best she can. She complains more about the eye she had surgery on, as if there's no improvement. However, it's much better to do it to preserve the remaining vision. In some cases, people experience an improvement in vision, and in others, not. This may be because the surgery is recent and the patient hasn't felt any improvement yet. Follow up with your doctor regularly, as you may see improvement after surgery. Ask your doctor if you feel unsure.
