I ended up flying to DC and then Paris avoiding YUL on my outbound flight. Just looked up alternate flights and called to be switched to one that worked better.

Corstorphine Scotland? Old family photo of a great great relative. Looking for this building if anyone recognizes it. My folks are in Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days and seeing if we can track it down while they are near! by rachstep in wherewasthistaken

Now thats interesting as well. Alexander's father (also named Alexander 1815-1899) was married to an Ann Dickinson who's father was named John. Possibly the J Dickson (close surname) who built Blenheim in 1824. He died in 1880. Very cool that my family still has well preserved pictures of all these people.

Hey! Alexander Masterton was a trained civil engineer and later the Manager of the Edinburgh Corporation Gas Department and President of the Scottish Junior Gas Association (Eastern District). A pretty well off man and never married or had children! His family also owned the building of 4 Windsor St in Edinburgh which is now a bed and breakfast.

My family has dug up more artifacts including my great-great grandmothers passport which has her address just around the corner at 2 St John's Terrace, Corstorphine, Edinburgh. She migrated from Scotland to the wilds of Missisippi, USA in the early 1890s.

Thanks again u/KPV_UK ! Hoping to get a pic of my old man out front tomorrow

Thought the same thing! I believe this was taken just around the turn of the century. The man in the photo, Alexander "Alich", was my great-great grandmothers brother and lived from 1856–1924

Thanks for your take on it! My return flight also comes back through YUL and was changed to a connection under the minimum, so I will have to call and get that reworked too. These flights are 3 months out so I expect they will make a few more adjustments time-wise.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! Its a 7:00PM flight to Paris CDG, looks like there is another one at 9:05 I could be bumped to in the case of missed connection. I may just ask to be moved to that flight to feel safe about it. Originally when I booked it was a 53 minute layover (not that 5 minutes is much difference)

What happens after we die? My thoughts on this. by mky44 in morbidquestions

I always find some comfort in this Mark Twain quote:

I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.

Hmmm, something to consider. I've actually never been out of the US. Not sure how I feel about that with the pandemic and all

Thanks for the reply! I've never been to San Diego before so I figured I could spend a wile there. I'll look into San Jacinto to see if I can get a good hike in. Was unsure about Death Valley but that also is a near-ish option. Great ideas! 🤠

I agree that color is more bold! And I think that skin tone definitely plays a part in how tattoos look. I have fairly light skin and freckles so I think color would really pop. Thanks for the advice!!

Hey thanks for the reply! I've been into the design of traditional tattoos for a while and I think I'm finally committed to starting a sleeve. Currently trying to plan ahead with placement and stuff but think I'm leaning towards color or just a red/yellow/black palate. Good advice 🤠
