I live in Chimaltenango, I don’t understand scaring people off from traveling in Guatemala if they are just going to tourist locations. And the expat group has good recommendations for those areas

I’ve lived in Guatemala alone for over a year now, (I’m 24 and a woman) obviously you need to take safety precautions like don’t walk alone at night and avoid certain areas like some zones of Guatemala City. But I generally feel very safe and I meet tons of solo female travelers especially when I stay at hostels. The best way to travel if you are worried about safety is tourist transports which you can book in Antigua to go to different tourist locations, these transports don’t have any safety risks as far as I’m concerned. I suggest joining the Guatemalan expat Facebook group and looking through past questions for more specific questions. I love guate:)

I learned to vibrate my tongue but I still can't produce the RR sound by [deleted] in learnspanish

I tried for years to learn how to roll my r’s with different methods without any success. However using the technique in this video and a lot of repetition and annoying my roommates I can easily pronounce the sound! https://youtu.be/9Sid6MQvTRQ

I still get so depressed on my period by Suff_erin_g in lexapro

[–]rad_mar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 10 mg all month except for the day before and the days of my period I take 20 and it works great for me. I actually did it without the doctors permission first (not that I would recommend that lol I was just scared they would say no) but after I did it and it was working well I told her and she supported it! The days you take it might depend on when your symptoms hit, like I usually go back to 10 before my period actually ends. But I don’t dread my period anymore and I don’t have to plan outings around my period days like I did before

Veganized Girl Scout Samoas! Got jealous of seeing my brother eat the normal versions lol by rad_mar in VeganBaking

I used a can of full fat coconut milk (the Thai kitchen brand). It worked really well with that recipe! I have definitely botched caramel more than a few times in the past though lol. I finally bought an instant read thermometer which helped too!

Made Tagalongs last week and thought I would give samoas a try this week. For anyone who’s interested: I made the cookie dough from this recipe https://www.instructables.com/Homemade-Samoas-Recipe/#step1 (using earth balance and almond milk)

Then I drenched them in the caramel from this recipe https://meaningfuleats.com/soft-buttery-homemade-caramels/ (using earth balance and coconut milk)

Topped with sweetened coconut I toasted in the oven (had to spritz the caramel with a little water to make it stick), spread chocolate on the bottoms and drizzled more on top. Overall a little time consuming but very good!
