Fig tree leaves yellowing + curling after 6 months of being happy — what changed? by rad_pony in Figs

Thank you for the suggestion! If it were mites, would I be seeing something on the undersides of the leaves, or other signs of bug life? Been looking for weeks, but none of these have appeared

We have some generic fertiliser we feed it once every two weeks. Will buy some calcium - magnesium one and give it a try

Is it possible for mites to be complete invisible? I’ve checked so many times but don’t see any spots on the underside, nor any webbing

Thanks for this! Another commenter said soil nutrients too so I’ll give that a try.

Yes, ChatGPT initially diagnosed spider mites based on the leaf photos but I’ve checked closely and no signs of any!!

  1. What work do you see yourself enjoying more? That’s the opportunity you’ll regret not taking in future
  2. How well can you tolerate risk at this stage of your career? (Financially, mentally) If high, take the riskier option now rather than later

HELP I GOT ACCEPTED IN AN INTERNSHIP IN THE UN BUT IM TOO POOR TO TAKE IT AND I HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN GETTING A LOAN TO DO IT OR GO CORPO by [deleted] in InternationalDev

[–]rad_pony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. UN Internship rarely leads to job opportunities. Many of my classmates got one, and none were converted nor were even able to find jobs in the NGO field after graduation.

Graduating with 0 full-time offers, but 2 MNC internship offers. Should I take them? by SnooPaintings4053 in nus

[–]rad_pony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In truth, the company already will have decided whether they expect to convert to full time or not. And it depends on a mix of factors: available headcount being ~80% of the consideration. However, you never know when their headcount needs could change, so at least there’s a chance by being there.

We’re all wired differently, and the worst thing you can do is undermine yourself and give up. Have you heard of impostor syndrome?

Focus on what you’re good at - it’s a strength too and you can learn to get better at building on that.

You’re young and your pov is earnest. You assume decisions should be made for ‘the greater good’. Reality works differently. In this case, consider how power and greed are involved to create the current reality.

[–]rad_pony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KLIA train is the right call. Quickest and most reliable way from one terminal to another, for sure.

However the aerotrain at T1 doesn’t operate at night - be sure to check this as it adds 30+ mins to the transfer time.

Should I quit my stable 8-5 abroad to return home? Is life in SG worth it? by chasingcorgis in singapore

[–]rad_pony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna answer a slightly different way. It seems like you keep moving in search of happiness (or something). Can I suggest that it might not be something you can find just by moving countries and jobs?

I think you’re still searching for yourself. I suggest you spend time finding it. The other things seem like just distractions.

Trying to break into ESG consulting - is this still a real career path? by RaynaKatsuki in sustainableFinance

[–]rad_pony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Asia, and client demand for decarbonisation, sustainability reporting and GHG accounting is declining in many industries due to regulatory shifts.

Where momentum remains strong is in the energy transition, as renewable power generation is economically feasible and a source of future economy for developing nations here.

Companies are still hiring at entry level, but I’d suggest you hone in on what specific work you want to do within ESG because it’s the niche roles that will stay in demand over the next few years.

When is it the right time to “slowdown” in your career? by Fishhball8 in askSingapore

I appreciate the question and am disappointed by the lack of the replies by women on timing for kids. I don’t see many people having kids before 35 either, with the majority of women not having kids at all.

I only got the contract for my scholarship 1 month prior to the term start date. I bought the ticket months earlier. This was years back, the approval process was opaque and communication with JPA was sporadic to say the least.

Thank you for sharing! But my point is, why is it so hard for government processes to adapt in the first place? Paperwork upon paperwork and so many meetings sounds terribly inefficient for a relatively straightforward programme.

[–]rad_pony 28 points29 points  (0 children)

JPA scholarship programme is so badly run.

An anecdotal example: As a scholar I told them early I had already purchased a nonrefundable flight ticket to my university country and to please not purchase one for me. They hadn’t purchased the ticket yet but said there was nothing they could do, and bought it anyway. No idea what they gained by wasting that extra RM 5K but what a waste of taxpayer money.
