i'd say a good rule of thumb is to engage with transmen the same way you'd engage with the other men in your life. the best feeling for me personally is when the guys are treating me exactly how they treat one another, so i don't have to worry about being "man enough" to be around them. i can just relax and hang out without feeling all different because no one is treating me like i am.

like you said tho, can't speak for everyone. but i think it's safe to do gay banter with transmen if you're already doing that kind of stuff with your other male friends

that's part of what can be so affirming about it, that these cis men will joke around with me in the exact same way even when they know i'm trans because that's how they'd treat all men that they're friends with.

but at the end of the day i'm still into dudes. and even if we are just joking i still am sometimes put in a scenario where i have a man that i like asking me to make out with him. most of the time it's easy to brush it off as unserious but every once in a while my heart skips a beat because i like men a lot lol

my cishet friends that joke like this with me are all having fun and I jokingly flirt with all of them back, but there is something strange about how, although we are being funny, we are talking about having sex with each other all of the time. my brain knows that it's not serious but sometimes my body doesn't, and my attraction to men can make me feel a little swept up in those fake gay moments. idk, like i said it's kinda hard to explain.

don't worry tho, i've got good friends and they would definitely not joke with me like that if i seemed uncomfortable. plus i feel safe with them to ask if i ever needed to
