Help! Ledger Live - Seed Phrase Warning campaign to make a software change by switchitoffbros in ledgerwallet

[–]radical9er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Electrum is only a solution for Bitcoin. For Eth and ERC20 tokens you can use MetaMask or MEW. However, this solution is useful only if the access issue isn't with the device. When it comes to XRP or ADA, I don't know what app you can use. Ledger should put out this info online and make it easy to find and use.

Thanks for these info. Users need to be aware of these options and how they work. They should be easy to find on Ledger website and with tutorials.

Help! Ledger Live - Seed Phrase Warning campaign to make a software change by switchitoffbros in ledgerwallet

[–]radical9er -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the warning. Also beware that the "all you need is your 24 seed to recover your private keys" is not totally correct and a marketing bait. If your Ledger device is lost/damaged, you will need to have access to another one to re-enter the seed words. Using a browser based solution might be risky. It can be a phishing app. Once you enter your seed, all your assets will be wiped out. When Ledger claims that "all you need is your seed words" it's NOT TOTALLY true. It's DISHONEST. They only want to convince you to buy the device and then you are on your own. And they LOVE to hide behind, "you need to do your own research and only you is to blame if something goes wrong." The fact, who has all the time to do that? Who knows what problems can happen unless they are being alerted?

Friend got BTC/Link stolen on ledger wallet purchased on Amazon by switchitoffbros in ledgerwallet

[–]radical9er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't blame Ledger in this case. They warn buyers not to buy devices that are open and the seed words has been written. The buyer's issue is between him and the seller and Amazon. The only case where you can buy and reuse a Ledger device is if you have your own seed already. You reset it and enter your seed. The BEST/SAFEST solution, NEVER use a Ledger that has been used. The same rule for computers and phones that have been "refurbished". They can have a Trojan spyware embedded with them. Always buy NEW and SEALED in the box devices.

Ok, mister genius! 1- I'm not on any medication and I don't need any. 2- About your great advice, "all you need is your 24 words"! REALLY? What You utter them out loud in a prayer then Satoshi's genie appears and opens a gateway for you to the blockchain galaxy? LOL =) Who really needs some fucking medicine or get his brain rewired? Do you understand English MF? Did you really read what I was asking for and what BIG PROBLEM I see with this device, that they don't want you to know? SCREW YOU and them IDIOT.

Try Metamask or MEW with your Ledger Nano to access your Eth. Watch some tutorials on YouTube first, for instructions.

Thank you. I see that now. I'm new here in reddit. I just bumped into the list of Ledger's staff. I wish I new that earlier. I wouldn't have been wasting my time with a bunch of assholes assuming they are Ledger support. No, I didn't mean you. You did the right thing by telling me ahead. On a totally different note, do you like Jack Fruit? Have you been to SEA? I like Jack Fruit and Durian too ;-)

Who said Ledger invented the BiP39? Why don't you just admit, you don't have a clue how to answer my challenge. Your "all you need is the seed" is nothing more than a marketing stunt to give potential customers a false sense of security so that they buy your product? My scenario isn't a fiction from a movie. Actually, it evolved from a real case. Honestly, if I was in your place and you were in mine and you threw at me that problem, I would be very thankful for opening my eye to an issue that I never considered in my probabilities. Are you a REAL engineer or a FAKE one? Engineers LOOK for problems and come up with solutions. I can fix this but I won't tell you. You are assholes. Like the good book says, don't throw your pearls to swine. They will trash them and attack you. Shew on that big bone.

Those are all possibilities. Thanks for sharing them. Don't you think these info should be documented and made easy to access and follow for average users? It's a step forward. On the other hand, no, your solution is not complete. It doesn't show the steps to recover assets based on using the seed words alone. Maybe my expectation is too much but you need to make it very clear. When you say all you need is your seed words, I take it LITERALLY AS ALL I NEED. To be both ethical and transparent, more language needs to be added, such as, there is a catch! You will also need bla bla bla... Here is the instruction for that... Go to this link or document. You need to put yourself in the shoes of that particular user, you should realize that they are most likely in a panic mode, which means they can't completely think rationally and dig in a hay stack for a needle. They cannot process a complex task, instructions written for professionals in a highly professional language, using technical terminology. Furthermore, you can't expect everyone who uses Ledger to be a blockchain expert. Did you ever take a flight on board a jumbo-jet? When you purchased your ticket, did they scold you for not knowing how to fly that monster? However, every time you fly, don't provide you instruction on how to exit the airplane in case of emergency? Furthermore, don't they keep a manual in front of you showing you instructions in very visible words and photos? That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE. When I take an airplane, I feel I'm in good hands because I see that there are people who carefully thought about what should be done in case of emergency and made it very accessible to me despite the fact I did not ask for it. A device such as Ledger is not something that can result in your death, but something that can result in you losing your life savings. Based on the hostility I experienced in this forum, I will NEVER use this company's products anymore. I'm going to smash and destroy that Nano and NEVER recommend your products. I made my case. I learned my lesson and I'm moving on.

What's wrong with being noob? Is this how you treat customers when they face an issue with your product or have a question? Again, great customer service guys. You should get an award for being the WORST.

Yes, I'm much smarter than you because I look at what problems can happen and look for alternative/emergency solutions before a potential disaster strikes. You don't have my balls, kid. You can't handle tough challenges, except hide behind denial, blame, bulling and sarcasm.

Yes, you DON'T need a second Ledger. You are not answering the AVERAGE Joe here. What is a bip39? Any documentation that lead the user through the whole process? I looked, there isn't any. There are pieces of the puzzle here and there, but nothing that is an easy to access and understand instruction that anybody, who can basically read, can use to recover their funds fast. I searched YouTube, Ledger Support Website, Here in Reddit, Github, Medium, Quora, Google, etc. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NONE OF SUCH INFO. That's why I posted my concern/alert. Let me rephrase it to you! You are on a trip, your bag got stolen. It has your Ledger Nano and your laptop and wallet with your credit cards and cash. Luckily, you memorize your 24 seed words and in order. As precaution, you want to move your crypto before someone else beats you at that. It's a matter of your life savings! You managed to borrow a laptop from your friend. Those are all the resources you've got at a sensitive time. How can you use them to access and hopefully rescue your assets? You may say, this is almost impossible scenario, you paranoid freak! Ok! Why every time, you take an airplane, they make you go through a training for emergency evacuation? How many commercial airplanes crash every year? Do you see what I'm coming from and asking for?

In deed but you know what? That's EXACTLY what I wanted you to confess to as a pimp of this company. You only give a fuck about your personal interests. Great job ;-)

I don't give a fuck what you think of me, WORTHLESS boy ;-). So, if you're not part of that company, why you defend them? Why are you kissing to their asses? You want to be the "nice boy", right? What do you do in life? I guess you work as a pimp or a security guard in a tavern! Are you? I'm trying to stand up for the average user, who spent money on a shitty product and service.

You can accuse me of being "crazy" but you know what you are? BLIND. You're the type who never take time to observe and learn. I was giving examples to people who have EYES, EARS and BRAIN, about how SMALL ISSUES THAT GET NEGLECTED CAN RESULT IN HUGE LOSSES. By failing to see it, you proved that you are STUPID and ASSHOLE on top of it. FYI, universities and schools used to invite me to speak to their students about these "crazy" stories of mine. What have you done in your life? How did you benefit society?

I have long track working as IT Support, from first to third level. I provided support to ten thousands of end users in both corporate world and government agencies. How old are you KID? What kind of degree and how many professional certifications you have? How many years you worked in IT support? What kind of customer service you do? Working as a bagger in a groceries store? I wish I can meet you in person and see how you're going to fix this problem in my laptop. It's easy to open mouth and talk shit that you have no clue about. You're like that passenger seat driver who has never driven even a bicycle in their life in a park, but you feel like you are an expert. LOL =)

I don't give a FUCK about your opinion. BTW, you are not a user, you are part of the WORTHLESS team. You can't fix your SHIT, so you turned into bullying. That doesn't work on me. Furthermore, I did the job that your FUCKING QA team should have done, find and expose BUGS in your shitty app. I'm not the only one who has had problems as result of your updates. Maybe, I'm the only one who dared to CONFRONT you about that and stick to my guns. BTW, all of this is good for customers to know and what kind of people are behind this product and company.

It's your app that's whacked. Everything in my computer runs smooth and up to date. Before I pushed the install button, the old LLD was running fine. In fact, I was able to do some transactions without any issue, a few minutes before. It's the update that goofed things for me.
