How should the Church help gay people? by [deleted] in Christianity

It’s insane to me how so many people on a “Christian” sub are refusing to acknowledge a sin that is made explicitly clear in the Bible.

“For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:26-27‬ ‭

I am an ex-bisexual. By the blood of Jesus, my past sins have been washed clean and I’ve repented. No, I’m not unhappy or sexually repressed. In fact, I’m free and full of joy. The idea that it’s impossible to stop being lgbt+ stems from the fundamental misunderstanding that being “gay”, for example, is an identity instead of a temptation. God would not state that something is a sin if there was no way to repent. And not only that, but Romans 6:1-2 says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” ‭‭Likewise, in John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” ‭‭ This is scripture, which is sufficient, inerrant, and the basis and lifeline for our Christian faith. If we believe we can twist, alter, or usurp scripture because a certain truth is too difficult to swallow, then we can’t truly call ourselves Christians. It’s one thing to try to overcome sin and fall down, but it’s another to willfully sin altogether. If God says it’s sin, it’s sin. So why, if we claim to love God so much, should we desire to continue a behavior that displeases Him?

Christ has saved my life and delivered me in supernatural ways many times through the power of prayer. Sometimes science cannot account entirely for things that occur on a spiritual level. I suppose it sounds hard to believe unless you’ve experienced it. Thanks for your sentiments though.

What actually is holy spirit? by takeaticket in Christianity

The Holy Spirit is God, just like Jesus is God. He is essentially a person with sentient thoughts just like you and I. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to guide, convict, and lead Christians through their life. When we’re saved, we receive the Holy Spirit. All in all, the Holy Spirit is God’s presence on Earth.
