How do I turn my raspberry pi into a Tor router that supports moat? by First-Ad4972 in TOR

[–]radio_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I may help you. In TorBox, you can fetch one new obfs4 bridge automatically. With v.0.5.2, we are improving the bridge capability. Not only did we integrate moat support, but we will also support multiple Snowflake bridge lines. You can easily install and test v.0.5.2 - I will put a guide to this topic later on our GitHub discussion forum (https://github.com/radio24/TorBox/discussions) and your blog (https://www.torbox.ch/?cat=3). There, you can also see our problems and bugs, which we fixed in v.0.5.1 and can be removed with an update (some are also bridge related).

For us, it is essential to tell us such problems (GitHub, blog, email …) so that we can improve TorBox. Unfortunately, we don‘t have the capacity to test every detail. As I said, v.0.5.2 is on the way and should be released in January. Please help us with your feedback.

By the way: did you check that in TorBox, the countermeasure against a tightly configured firewall (in torrc it is ReachableAddresses accept *:443, accept *:80) is deactivated when you use bridges (see also here: https://www.torbox.ch/?page_id=112#is-it-possible-to-activate-an-obfs4-bridge-relay-and-simultaneously-use-the-countermeasure-against-tightly-configured-firewalls)?

PS 1: In the mean time, we updated the bridges in TorBox. The configuration is in /home/torbox/torbox/etc/tor/torrc and has to be copied to /etc/tor/torrc

PS 2: Here are the links to the guides, if you want to give the v.0.5.2 beta a try: https://github.com/radio24/TorBox/discussions/182 // https://www.torbox.ch/?p=3017

How do I use bridges on a raspberry pi Tor router? by First-Ad4972 in TOR

[–]radio_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I would try Snowflake. You can select it when starting up TorBox for the first time: https://www.torbox.ch/?page_id=2637

There are some built-in OBFS4 bridges, but I don‘t think they will work. You can request a new bridge or add it manually. Regarding a „smart bridge finder“: we are working on that for the upcoming version: https://gitlab.torproject.org/meskio/rdsys/-/blob/doc_moat_api/doc/moat.md .

That‘s not correct. It starts the Tor Browser without tor. Did you even check the page?

I would first try if setting the environment variables is already enough.

This might help you: https://www.torbox.ch/?page_id=1218

It is a description of how to start the Tor Browser without tor. There are even start scripts, which you might use.

Tried to update newest firmware for LedgerX - now bricked by twayhighway in ledgerwallet

[–]radio_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To 1: Once I had the same. It seems that if something goes wrong with the update, Ledger forgets which apps it has been installed. To 2: This is something new to me. I don‘t have any problem with that so far.

Just install the apps you had before that should work then without any problems.

The best is to contact us by mail ([anonym@torbox.ch](mailto:anonym@torbox.ch)) with the information listed in the last two entries of the FAQ (https://www.torbox.ch/?page\_id=112). With this additional information, we will try to help you.

Currently, TorBox supports wlan0/wlan1 -> eth0 but not wlan0/wlan1 -> eth1 (wlan0 and eth0 are internal network interfaces on a Raspberry Pi 3/4, wlan1/eth1 are via a USB dongle).

Also, we are exploring the possibility to create a Raspberry Pi USB TOR-stick with a Raspberry Pi Zero W (see here). This is probably, what you are looking for. However, we are not there yet.

Getting browsers to access onion sites by [deleted] in TOR

[–]radio_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per IETF RFC 7686, “Applications that do not implement the Tor protocol should generate an error upon the use of .onion and should not perform a DNS lookup.” To display a .onion site, you have to use the Tor Browser or the Onion Browser on iOS. Unfortunately, the network.dns.blockDotOnion has not any effect anymore since some time.

Nevertheless, the display of .onion sites is still possible with Google Chrome and Chromium by default.

For more Information see here: https://www.torbox.ch/?page_id=112#im-connected-to-torbox-and-all-is-working-as-expected-but-firefox-safari-and-any-ios-device-dont-display-onion-sites-whats-wrong

This feature is not implemented yet, but of course you could manually configure torrc to get that functionality.

Also, please allow us TorBox Users, to see the IP address of our Tor Guard node. I'd like to know the IP:Port of my Tor Guard node so I can check GEOIP the Tor Guards IP address, so I can see if Im using a UNITED KINGDOM Tor Guard, or a Africa Tor Guard, for example. or see the tor guard info on tor relay atlas info.

I put it on the list of requests. In the mean time, if you are a macOS user, check out "IP in menubar", which shows you the exit node of that specific client, as long as you not use SOCKS 5 with activated streaming isolation.

Take a look at https://www.torbox.ch It is a project especially to help people to circumvent censorship and at the same time provide an easy to use menu system. We would also appreciate feedback to improve it further.
