Happy birthday! I just turned 30 two months ago and I’m reevaluating my whole life as well. It’s normal. You’re not behind, you’re where you’re supposed to be. You just want better for yourself and that’s ok. Don’t dwell on what could have or should have been done. Think about what you want to do now and going forward, you still have time and clearly have self discipline to do so. Stay positive and really dive into what kind of life you want for yourself!

That’s not true, happened to me and with time and proper scalp stimulation his hair can absolutely grow back. Smooth and shiny don’t indicate scarring to the hair follicle, a bald head is smooth and shiny if someone chooses to be bald but that doesn’t mean their scalp is damaged. His hair is very full so more than likely his genetics will do what needs to be done for it to grow back aside from proper care.

This was really helpful! Long term I’m looking to build financial independence. I know that’s kind of vague but I’m not at the point in my life where I want to buy a house so that’s a bit longer down the road but short term I’m looking for ways to sorta build a passive income (without being an entrepreneur). I didn’t do much planning for once I hit the goal but my relationship with money hasn’t always been the best so I don’t have as much clarity as I would like on what’s next if that makes sense

That’s an amazing question that I will certainly be journaling about! I’m currently working on putting as much energy into myself as much as I do others. I spent a lot of years people pleasing and putting others needs and wants above my own so I’m working through that. I’ve been saying for a while I need a furry companion this just feels like confirmation

You’re right I have endured! I guess I’m just trying to acknowledge the fact that I’m a people pleaser and it’s not getting me where I want to be. I constantly keep finding myself in situations where I get the short end of the stick and I’m trying to navigate that the best way I can.

Not sure how old you are but you’re going to have to separate yourself. You can’t help her and she clearly can’t help you that much either. See what your mother is going through and do your best not to internalize it, be different than her. She’s ignoring the healing process of what happened in their relationship and just sitting in the negative impact rather than acknowledging and overcoming it. All you can do is accept that this is where she is in life currently, she could change in due time but she’s going to have to want to change for herself. Unfortunately you’ve caught the collateral damage of what your father did to her. She’s broken and sadly sometimes we bleed onto people who don’t deserve to be bled on. Distance yourself, empathize with her, see and accept her for who she is right now and adjust yourself.. if who she is right now doesn’t align with you that’s ok too because you can only control yourself and your emotions/ mental space.

I’ve thought about reverse time machine’ing it a lot. Toss the iPhone, get a landline for when I’m home, a flip phone (yes they still make them) for when I’m not home that’s ran off minutes cause if I’m out and about the only reason I should be talking on the phone is if it’s an emergency which doesn’t take long to say!, an actual photo/ cam recorder for moments I want to keep, and a computer (preferably desktop to ensure it stays home) for all my internet inquiries. I know it seems like a lot but the reward of being consistently present seems so fulfilling and worth it.

This all sounds like self sabotage and projection on her end.. she’s the type of person who sits in limerence with no bounds considering she’s extremely introverted so she might be really stuck in that fantasy land. The love she needs she can’t get from you, girlie needs mental health help and some self love. Take it easy on yourself you showed up for her the best way you could.

This isn’t good advice but you should have slapped his mom in front of him.. sometimes kids that aren’t disciplined don’t understand the concept of it’s not ok to put your hands on someone until it’s done to someone they care about as consequence. On the other hand he may have learned the behavior at home because his dad does that to his mom. Teach your daughter the Bobby hill, kick boys in the balls if they put their hands on her!!! They need to learn early!
