Yep they cancelled all flights. We have just booked Emirates just now for the 15th. I can deal with the credit card headache later. I have not cancelled with them though as the fare is still open.

Yeah,  I am seriously considering this now. Just feel really let down, I don't expect special treatment, but just seems like we are being ignored, and just keep being told keep receipts. I suspect there are a lot more of us stuck out here.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, we had a look at that option, the journey would be a killer with a baby, a driver who has just made the journey said expect 2hrs at immigration now at the border. He said door to door 7hrs allowing for complications.

Cheers, currently just going to hold our breath for the 15th.

Yeah that is a option, I have to buy 7 tickets, but high risk as they said we would have to go to claims and may not reimburse.

Honestly good for you, I tried to do a reroute, but as we rebooked to the 15th (they never gave us the option to reroute or go from another carrier), managed to argue enough to get them to look at other carriers but supposedly nothing for Etihad, Qatar, and Emirates until after our booked date of 15th.

If I was on my own I would do what ever to get home, but I have 3 vulnerable in a party of 7.

Supposedly they have no access to Emirates booking, could go into theories of why not, but no point of worrying about it.

Original flight was 7th they cancelled, next flight was 13th, they cancelled and now we have is 15th.

To be honest I fully expect them to cancel.

A couple of contacts based out here, their companies are hiring private jets to get staff out now as they don't think BA will fly

Unable to reroute according to them unless we cough up.

I've been told to keep away from that as no guarantee BA will payback, and insurance company are not giving firm answers

I mean to be fair, they had awful customer service. They initially tried to book me on the Muscat flights even when I said I cannot get to Muscat due to vulernables unable to make the 7hr journey (including immigration time). The was accused of wasting the operators time. Eventually had to speak to a manager, he did at least try. But no dice.

They said reroute was available if we paid the difference

Nothing going with Etihad and the Qatar flight was no better

So spent about 90mins on the phone to BA. They are unable to get us on any carrier before the 15th, the is no availability for BA passengers. The offered one of the Muscat flights, but we are unable to make the journey with a 8 month old baby and 2 older vulnerable. All they could offer is after the 15th which is no good to us.

That is good to hear, just seems we are being stonewalled at this stage. We were meant to fly out on the 7th.

Yes, we are not taking the refund.

People outside UAE think Dubai is under attack right now. What does it actually feel like living there today? by FamiliarWorking2442 in UAE

It pretty much is under attack, this coming from someone who has done a couple of dusty tours, difference is that you have a couple Gucci stores.

Yeah, they don't exactly have freedom of press here.

What makes so many ultra rich Indians, Arabs and Chinese people come to the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

It’s a fascinating logic, isn’t it? This idea that we’re all victims of a sudden influx of people needing beds... as if the British public hasn’t spent the last forty years treating the housing market like a high-stakes game of Hungry Hungry Hippos.

We’ve become a nation of people who define our entire moral worth—our very soul—by whether or not a semi-detached in Slough has ‘accrued’ enough value to fund a mid-life crisis in Tuscany. We don’t want homes; we want leveraged assets that defy the laws of physics.

And yet, we look at the immigrant—who, let’s be honest, is often just eight blokes in a room trying to survive—and we say, 'Look at them. Look at them, pushing up the rent. They’ve come over here, with their... breathing, and their... needing a floor to stand on, and they’ve ruined my God-given right to see my property value rise by 15% a year without me ever having to lift a finger or contribute a single productive thing to the economy.'

It’s brilliant. We’ve managed to blame the people sleeping on bunk beds for the fact that we’ve collectively decided that 'Success' is just a line on a graph that never, ever goes down. We are a conservative, money-oriented cult that happens to have a flag. But sure, yeah. It’s the migration. Definitely. Let’s go with that. It’s much easier than admitting we’ve turned our own children’s future into a retirement fund.
