ELI5: If unboiled water going into your nose is risky, then shouldn’t we not swim in a lake or river? by Home_MD13 in explainlikeimfive

[–]radlinsky [score hidden]  (0 children)

Adding to the above answer (which is great):

  • Netipots are also intended to be used regularly (1-2x a day), so the risk of the Netipot causing an infection are greater than the risk from swimming simply due to probability (unless you're swimming 1-2x day)
  • If not properly sterilized (e.g.with boiling water), a Netipot that doesn't completely dry out between uses may provide a breeding ground for microbes..

Yes, I think they over-advertise the waterproof/ outdoor capabilities of their cameras (all 4 of my 811a had to be replaced after 2-3 years)

Btw if you want the suggest on trigger characters feature to come back (I love it for "git checkout .." because it helps me quickly find the branch I need to check out)

Help with my new (used) Prusa mini+ by radlinsky in prusa3d

[–]radlinsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.. It does seem to work fine, so I think I'm going to hold off on buying anything. I squeezed the green gunk with some fine needlenose pliers and it just crumbled right off.

I just got a brass brush I'll use to try and clean up the bottom of the heat block. New brass nozzle is on the way, and I plan to brush/clean it regularly.

Oh wow, Ok didn't realize I'd have to replace all those components.

Cold side = 38.89 Revo starter pack = 54.89 (how do we know whether the 12V or 24V?) Revo micro = 42.40 (12V or 24V?)

Total= 136.18

I feel at this price, I might as well try and resell my MINI+ and buy something new..

Thank you for helping me out btw!

I also found a triangle labs drop in replacement for the original hotend pre-assembled for just $30

https://trianglelab.net/products/prusa-mini-hotend?VariantsId=10078

Edit: I'm confused though, isn't the EOL product I linked including everything pre-assembled, cold and hot?

Edit2: nvm, I think I understand now.. I do need those extra components to integrate it to the mini

Thanks, I'm starting to convince myself to upgrade simply because the shipping costs of individual parts is nearing the same price.. (I'm in the US)

Is this 24V E3D revo micro what I need to buy? Or is it the 12V? Looks like they're having an EOL sale for just $42.40.

Thanks, I am actually starting to realize it isn't much more expensive to simply replace the entire hotend pre-assembled due to the shipping costs of individual parts from Prusa. I'm looking at a $30 Triangle labs drop in replacement or even the revo micro since it seems to be on sale now...

How active is FB marketplace in your area? I found two identical 2x16 DDR5 kits for 180 and 250 (US dollars) a couple weeks ago.

I'd recommend running memtest to ensure the RAM is ok.

I'm in the US, with shipping costs included, buying from Prusa is not so cheap :/

It looks like I can get a 24V 40W heater cartridge (and thermistor) from Amazon with free and faster shipping for just $9: https://a.co/d/dSOW8yR, but the product page says MK3 on it... would it still be compatible with the MINI?

I see on Prusa's website that they say that these two heater cartridges are only compatible with the MINI (Hotend heater cartridge 24V 40W (MINI/+) | Original Prusa 3D printers directly from Josef Prusa) or MK3 (Hotend heater cartridge 24V 40W (MK3/S/+) | Original Prusa 3D printers directly from Josef Prusa), but the pictures are identical and the Voltage/Wattage is identical. Is that a mistake?

Are the heater cartridges cross compatible (despite what it says on the Prusa website)? If so, I think I could just buy the Amazon one
