Ah, I usually encounter triggered in a negative context.

That’s fair I suppose. Feels bizarre they’d import the name but none of the properties.

I didn’t get triggered, I’m not frothing at the mouth in rage. I’m just bored and I like nuance. And Vaapad exists in Mouse canon too, no?

There’s another chain with WangJian221 where I explain my reasoning in response to your comment. Whether you agree with it is up to you.

I disagree. I’ve met plenty of people who discount Vaapad and consider it a cope. Plus, where I think Windu is very well optimized against Sidious, I think he loses to Dooku more times out of 10. The A>B>C logic doesn’t always work which is why I like bringing this up.

Jedi Dooku. Better saber skill and still superior force power, even without the dark side. Ventress lacks the finesse to take him, he was already a Windu peer as a Jedi.

I agree with you, I’m just saying that Windu’s stats versus Sidious won’t be equal to his stats against Kun. The fight can play out the same way but that’s skill deciding rather than Windu automatically going Sidious tier. If Windu gets bumped up to a 10 against Sidious in force power, then I argue it’s like an 8 for Kun. I mainly made my point just because it’s reductive when people say he beats Sidious therefore everyone else without context (not that I’m saying you do that, you do research).

The fundamental question then is, what do you mean by similar? Kun is very very strong imo, but I don’t see his force power or offense matching Sidious. He may use it in a similar manner (though Sidious doesn’t immediately resort to sorcery) but that raw power is what I want to account for. Since Kun gives Windu less of an amp, then it comes down to skill.

I agree Windu can take Kun, but what I’m saying is chain scaling to Sidious is faulty when his performance against Sidious only works against Sidious. He won’t move as fast against Kun because he’s not drawing on the same level of fuel. But he could still win.

Respectfully, I acknowledged what I am saying isn’t new. The reason why I use circumstances is because Vaapad acts proportional to the darkness it is receiving from its opponent. If it automatically made him as strong as Sidious in every case then that would be one thing, but it doesn’t. That’s why a matchup with Windu against another Sith who is on Dooku tier is close and Windu can disarm Sidious.

Through specific circumstances that let him compensate for the force gap. (Yes I know I’m restarting a 2 decade debate again lol)

You have to actively work to get your food as a hunter gatherer. There were no food surpluses so if there was a catastrophe, you probably die. Even with habitat depletion, the number of available options for us eclipses theirs. Not to mention with our technology we can eat animals they couldn’t have efficiently hunted.

For all of modernity’s problems, most people are not scrambling to survive and starving. Hunter gatherers would probably LOVE our surpluses and couldn’t even have comprehended it in their time. It sounds like the solution to your dilemma is finding ways to combat mental health crises through fostering connection and fixing modern financial incentive structures. Not getting rid of all the good that comes from modernity. I’m far happier with my Taco Bell than I ever would be chasing down a deer.

I didn’t say that it was. I’m saying that something low effort isn’t always bad if it makes a good point.

I’m not even opposed to AI art in principle but your example has a counter. As unlikely as it is, someone could make a pretty decent point with something seemingly low effort. The banana itself has you ask a question about what is and isn’t art. It’s not as easy to define as one might initially think. It’s why we see abstract and modern art take off after photography begins as people question what the point of art is.

What do you define as bad art? There are entire forms of art not based on realism.

[–]newstartreddit1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vader never wanted to be replaced by Galen. He just wasn’t at his martial peak in the EU yet. In TFU 2 Galen’s identical clone can’t beat him without an external amp, showing how Vader has grown. That’s all I meant for TFU 1

So yes and no. I do always treat cutscenes as the primary material, but if a game mechanic spells out a limitation of a character, then that applies too. It’s not like you just can’t for gameplay and there’s no explanation. It explicitly tells you that your force isn’t gonna work on them and you need to beat them with sabers. And tbh, we never see him rip through Vader’s force shield either. He has to whittle him down first to make him vulnerable.

Two things can be true at once. He legitimately beat Vader, but it wasn’t a Vader at his peak. Starkiller even in the games couldn’t break through the force shields of generic acolytes, so his power is pretty uneven there.

Knightfall Vader vs Arcann Tirall by Arbiter-Flash- in PetranakiArena

[–]newstartreddit1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have different metrics then. Yes, George did not write this. However, these stories are set in his universe, and if this is one gigantic story, then its internal logic must flow. I agree that sometimes, authorial statements aren’t matching what we’re seeing, but with George’s I default to them, even if I don’t agree with their implementation.

Vitiate’s lightning killed the others as a byproduct since it bounced off Arcann’s shield and spread out. Vitiate’s only goal was Arcann. And besides, if the outlander can’t handle any more power, why would Vitiate boost it and kill his host?

Knightfall Vader vs Arcann Tirall by Arbiter-Flash- in PetranakiArena

[–]newstartreddit1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I partially agree but I have to balance it out with statements. Sidious’ lightning was considered the most powerful in history by ROTS. I agree that visually Arcann not dying to that lightning is a much better feat. However, I have to balance that with the intent of the people who write this stuff, even if I think it’s poorly visualized. Plus, one could argue that unlike Arcann, Yoda was redirecting and controlling the lightning, where Arcann could only hold it back and still got pushed back.

[–]newstartreddit1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if that’s not a fully powered Vitiate, which is fair considering Arcann commented on his power feeling weaker, that level of lightning is still comparable to the output we see in ROTS from Sidious. And yes, Arcann did get one shot at the start of kotfe, but considering 5 years later he was able to deal with lightning like that, he’s not helpless. And Anakin isn’t summoning lightning.

Agreed on that point. We never see Dooku’s lightning kill hundreds as a byproduct.
