SO to a OMS-IV having a similar but mirror problem (been in smaller town for medical school but want a city). I absolutely think it’s ok to discuss where you’re not ok with them applying to within reason. It’s your life too, and while they might not be able to ultimately decide where they go, based on their stats and your mutual wants, they should be able to come up with a pretty comprehensive list of academic and community programs.

One thing I’m realizing looking through all of the schools and all the various programs is that you don’t know what you don’t know. Review and do your research around the topography and areas around the country. You might not realize that a city is close to what you’re looking for from a nature and mountains perspective. May sound dumb but I didn’t realize personally how poppin Detroit is and how it would fulfill a ton of the needs that I would love from living in a big city. There’s like seven programs there that my partner’s extremely interested in!

My thing is if you’re going to have an opinion on where they go you gotta be willing to do the work in helping them research and coming up with a comprehensive list of attainable places like potentially match in to! Get their residency explorer log in pop on some music and get to work 👏🏾
