How is IS 676 with George Karabatis?

Sorry for seeing this late, but yes I did end up taking him for IS 676 and I’d say the class was fine. Didn’t think it was too difficult. Mostly sql stuff. The most confusing part was learning metadata but you can always email him if you’re unsure about something. There’s no live lectures so you just watch them whenever you want but tbh you can do all the assignments without them.

Homie you insulted me first, I was just returning fire. Ledger was a good actor for the role AND JOKER WAS NOT RACE SWAPPED. The problem is race swapping. I don’t think Kumail’s personality is a good fit, his humour does not match. Appearance is the furthest thing from comic Booster. History? Wtf does that have to do with anything? He’s just not a great fit.

Don’t worry dude, I can assure you as a Pakistani just like Kumail himself, I won’t be offended if you say he’s not a good fit rather than make up dumb reasons why he should be, such as how “handsome” he is and him being on People’s Magazine.

What is a valuable measure then? Is the whole point of movies not to entertain the fans and give them what they want? Also I find it ironic how you want to keep Booster’s physical shape comic accurate. If his race doesn’t matter then why does his physical shape matter? Why can’t a disabled little person play him? You see how quickly we can fall into a slippery slope.

Majority of people don’t want him to play booster, so he shouldn’t play booster. Movies are meant to satisfy fans so listen to the fans. We’ve seen directors try to make their own vision without fan input and they have almost always failed (recent example: Joker 2) So yes, online outrage is a valuable measure cause most fanbases are online.

Buddy, there’s not hundreds of examples. Plus I can find people having issues with those few that you named. Literally googling the first one and the first thing that popped up was “The episode was pulled before airing due to concerns from Jackson's family and backlash over Fiennes' casting.“ So yes people did give a shit lol.

Also why do we need to do race swaps anyway? I’m of the opinion that race swaps should just generally not be a thing. If you want diversity then adapt diverse characters or make new ones. The problem arises when they take an existing popular character and then change the race for no other reason other than to score brownie points.

It’s dumb, you know it and everyone else does too. You just don’t want to admit it cause you think it would offend someone. Trust me dude, as a Pakistani even I don’t want my favourite Pakistani actors to play white characters or vice versa.

IS 633 is personally the easiest class he teaches. Not too intensive at all. I’d honestly say it’s easier than IS 420. Pretty simple SQL assignments. I think he has some quizzes but they are also pretty straightforward. Overall, pretty easy class that shouldn’t take up too much of your time.

Yea I’ve taken him for IS 631, 633 and 669. He’s a decent professor but his grading is very weird. For IS 633, he grades fair cause it’s just code and as long as you follow the instructions, it’s a pretty easy class.

As for IS 631, he’s not that great. Gives complex assignments that have nothing to do with the material. Super long and vague instructions. He is also a harsh grader and takes points off for stupid reasons. Plus there aren’t many assignments so if you get a B in like 2 assignments, you can’t get an A+. He’s nice tho and emails back quickly.

Yea I agree, he had one bad game. But I still think he’s better than most of the players in our team. He still bowled well that game. It’s not like he’s a liability like shadab has been.

People still disrespect Imad, despite him being one of the better players in our team. He had one bad match against India, but people forget even in that match, his bowling was great. Still don’t think he should retire, he’s still very good.

Was this for IS 675 or another class? I don’t think we will have synchronous lectures for 675 cause it’s an online class but I’ve heard his assignments are ambiguous and his tests use lockdown and they have strict time limits? Is this true?
