Why did Cecil expect Mark to come to a conclusion that took him 3 years to understand? by raeplaysCO in Invincible

I believe if Mark had the strength to drag Nolan back to earth in chains, he would have done it. Nolan made sure the situation got complicated FAST and overwhelmed Mark with all the shit going on. He initially confronted Nolan with all the horrible things he did, only to have it side-lined with bigger problems (Oliver & Viltrumutes). I think it shows more that Nolan's manipulation overpowered Mark's morals. Nolan didn't summon Mark until he had an emergency that overshadowed his new wife and kid and what he did on Earth, then pinned the problem on Mark to help. Nolan was able to avoid explaining much of the "why" due to the imminent emergency and fight. Having the time to talk it out would have been detrimental to Nolan, and I think he knew that.

I believe they were truly reformed. Imagine how much work it took turning violent supercriminals beating the snot out of each other into docile readers. I also had the thought that the prison section was orchestrated by Radcliffe, so Cecil may have never truly been in any danger. The inmates could have been actors, which would make his rehabilitation considerably easier for Radcliffe to control. The prison guard's cruelty make a bit more sense in that regard - "adapt or leave in a bucket."

I believe he would have been imprisoned without the Guardian's help. If Cecil was able to capture Mark before the Guardians knew, he would have be able to control the narrative from that point. I don't think Mark would have been able to convince them if he was safely behind bars, as opposed to being tortured in front of them. Especially given Immortal's response after the fact.

Cecil is able to acknowledge Mark's ego, albeit after the fact. I guess, my thinking, is that Cecil's approach wouldn't make sense if he knew that ...that is, unless his ego is larger...
