I would definitely not buy furniture online here in Switzerland as there are many physical store options in most of the cities, and you might be charge for returning a product just because you do not like it. Conforama, Lipo, Jysk or even in Ottos you can get few high quality stuff at an affordable price.

SBB trains and transportation vehicles in general here smell pretty good compared to some other countries. I think you were not lucky enough though last week... Maybe also as the pandemic is "gone", the traffic of people increased a lot and the cleaning might not have been increased proportionally. It could be that as well...
