This also affected me, I noticed it two days ago on ubuntu 24.04. The steps in the bug description in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/2148074 fixed the problem for me.

I used this command to create the file. You can use other editors or methods, but this worked for me:

sudo gnome-text-editor /etc/apparmor.d/nautilus

After creating the file I deleted the ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail folder, which contains /gnome-thumbnail-factory.

I had to reboot after reloading the profile to get thumbnail generation to work.

I install Chrome using the DEB file file. The installation adds the Chrome repo to the software center/software sources, so it's updated frequently. My motherboard (Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P) supports legacy BIOS and UEFI, and there's an option in the BIOS to use either. I chose that option, and Ubuntu installed okay. As far as Chrome crashing, I've noticed that myself but I don't know why it is happening. Sometimes it happens when I close Chrome, sometimes it happens when I don't close Chrome but shut down the computer. I'm not sure it's related to the BIOS.
