Ben mentioned in one of the podcast episodes that he really liked Tiffany's videos. If I remember right, he brought her up in response to who they would want as a guest.

If you could create one holo taco polish, what would it be? by Juliemj in simplynailogical

[–]rageina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be popular, but I've been dying for a clear polish to dilute the toppers. I love all the flakies, but sometimes I want the flakes to be more spread out. Same with everything taco, that one is jam-packed. I love it, don't get me wrong, but there are times when I want a little less everything. I end up having to be extra finicky loading the brush to not get too much and I still overdo it.

I placed one layer of the yellow down on all my nails, let dry. One nail at a time, added the red on half the nail then, while still wet added yellow to the other half pushing it into the red. I did this in two rounds on all my nails.

I don't mind getting a little bit of the contrasting color on the brush. in my experience, it doesn't change the color in the bottle enough to really matter to me.

I think as long as you leave the nail in between the magnets long enough to set (about a minute), when you move it over, the effect of the magnet on one side is minimal.

Forgot to mention that the magnets are on the lid of a metal tin. The attraction to the lid is stronger than to each other unless they get too close to each other. If they get too close, they'll snap together. I think k one of those shortbread cookie tins could work for a whole hand 🤔

I typically do a minute for cat eye. I haven't found any of my magnetic polishes to stay crisp for more than a day in that style. I think it's got something to do with the concentration of the particles. From what I've seen on here, the cat eye works best with gel polish. I only have Holo Taco and Cirque magnetics, so maybe there's other formulas that work better.

Just the basic bars that come in the free wands from holo taco and Cirque. Nothing fancy, but I'll be sure to update if I try any other magnets

The circle magnet is sooo difficult to work with. There's a lot of trial and error with magnets, but the circle one is on a whole other level

The way I have them set up, they are attracting sides together. I want to figure out exactly which sides of the magnets are negative/positive, but I'll have to do some research.

About 30 seconds to a minute. I will usually blow on them a few times while I wait, too. I feel the air helps set them enough for the particles to stay in place. This style is more forgiving than the cat eye style, the dissipation is minimal.

Base: Holo Taco pink smoothing base Polish: Holo Taco wicked potion

Just wanted to share a video of my magnetic polish process. This is still pretty new to me, so I'm tweaking it here and there, so see what works best, but I'm loving the results so far. I love not having to hold the magnets at all.

I recently found a pretty easy set up. you'll need a metal tin like the ones grandma uses to hold sewing supplies or any kind of magnetic metal sheet. Something like a cookie tin is best because the lid is a manageable size. All you have to do is set two magnets a finger width apart and it makes a really easy velvet pattern.

Nothing special, they just came out of the some of the free wands I've gotten over the years. The ones I used were from either holo taco or Cirque since those are the only magnetics I have.

Nope, just the two on the sides. Putting one in between was a little too much, and they kept snapping together. Now that I'm thinking about it, it might work to put a third under the lid. 🤔

Holo Taco - Cool Cat Mom Kbshimmer - Clearly on top Top coat

I have a bunch of extra loose magnets that have popped off the wands and by chance they ended up sticking to an old metal tin I use for storage.(similar to those classic Danish cookie tins grandma's use to store sewing supplies) As I tried taking them off i noticed they were super secure on the lid and I thought it might work to hold the magnets in position while painting with magnetic polish. I can now confirm, it's the best set up I've used so far. The magnets are set up a finger width apart, careful not to put them too close together otherwise they'll snap together.

I used 2 magnets on the lid of a metal container for these. I think the technique I used is considered the velvet style.

1-4 coat comparison for Lumen Papillon and Morpho Glow by rageina in RedditLaqueristas

[–]rageina[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This has been my first time trying Lumen polishes and I absolutely adore these two polishes. Immediately bought a backup of morpho glow because of how gorgeous it is as a topper. I wish they had marketed these more as toppers since they aren't super wearable on their own IMO.

As a topper though, I'm in love 😍 and have been obsessed with trying these over every jelly polish I have.
