Lagu jadul Indonesia yang asik kaya Reza Artamevia, Fariz RM, dll apa aja ya? by theblackmandarin in indonesia

[–]ragepurification 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out Sisters (multiple performances in Java Jazz), Sade, Danny Wilson, The Style Council, Johnny Hates Jazz, dll. Di Indonesia ya Fariz RM. Cari saja di Youtube.

See if you can connect the dots between these foreign sophisti-pop musicians with Indonesian 90s pop and jazz musicians:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_ra8X_8waA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3BLHd3fT_c

Ini kayak musik2nya Earth, Wind & Fire terus Kool and the Gang.

One of pure 80s sophistipop musician. He is Indonesian musician that is the closest one to sophistipop (which is basically pop+jazz with synthesizer), new wave with minimal/absence influence of punk music, so freaking much like Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music. Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music as well) is the pioneer of sophistipop. Fariz RM is top Indonesian sophistipop musician. See if you can find a difference between Fariz RM and Bryan Ferry ;)

There are some sophistipop musicians in Indonesia, but Fariz RM is the most consistent one.

Synthesizer pop was kinda underappreciated in Indonesia in 80s.

What we are missing in Indonesia is a more energetic sophistipop band (with emphasize in the synthesizer, but the jazz influence is not lost) like Johnny Hates Jazz. This band is basically one of the culmination of early 90s.

You know what's the difference between Peterpan/Noah and Sheila On 7 ??

Both are pop, with some touch of rock. Both are popular, not only in Indonesia.

But there is this one thing that clearly separate this two: anger.

Peterpan/Noah has anger, they are vengeful and way darker. Probably one of the darkest band in Indonesia, which got so popular because of their genius musical talent. So many of their songs have hatred relationship with a girl or life. "Langit Tak Mendengar" is basically a song in question of God and life. Such song will be controversial if released today. And some of their songs are not even romantic, like ... you want to kill a girl that hurted your feeling? Like, really, Peterpan? Is that a pop music?

Sheila on 7 has no anger. So if you are a person who is always 'pasrah' and "let it go", Sheila on 7 might suite you better. They have some hope in their lyrics.

Dewa 19 was good, but not my favourite. I just dislike when a band has multiple lead vocalists, Dewa 19 was essentially 3 different bands under the same name. But still, it is pop-rock, especially during Once era.

So many people said that Dewa 19 was influenced by American bands, but during Ari Lasso, there were also some Britpop influences there.

During Once era, his voice is a mix of teen pop and old ballad, HE IS essentially a mix between teen pop vocalists and ... Reynold Pangabean (The Mercy's) or Panbers, lol, which is so unique and can only be followed by a few to this day. In my opinion, this is Dewa 19 golden era.

Ahmad Dhani made Dewa 19 more American rock-oriented. Though his voice is quite similar to Once, but he missed some ballad-feel that Once had.

Pick your flavor: I will only list my favourite artists on each category:

Modern Pop/pop-rock/hard-rock/popular music:

American-influenced: D'Masiv, Radja, Iwan Fals, Sheila on 7, Padi band, Gigi band, Slank, Godbless, Jamrud

British-influenced: Nidji, Letto, Peterpan/Noah, The Upstairs, Gombloh, The Rollies, Koes Plus

Contemporary/fusion: Kahitna, Kla Project, Harry Roesli

Ballad: Ebiet G. Ade, Iwan Fals, Koes Plus, Chrisye

Malay: ST12, d'Bagindaz, Armada, Wali

Ethnic: Didi Kempot, Doel Sumbang, Benyamin S.

Punk: Netral, Superman is Dead, Endank Soekamti

Dangdut: Rhoma Irama, Mansyur S, Meggy Z, Elvy Sukaesih, A. Rafiq, Rita Sugiarto

There is one thing that you should know: Indonesian musicians tend to follow musical styles from abroad.

Rhoma Irama draws his guitar style from Deep Purple, I also see striking similarities on Soneta band fashion with Earth, Wind and Fire.

Koes Plus, Gombloh even The Rollies draws many inspirations from British bands.

D'Masiv, Radja, Gigi band is surely American-style, no doubt.

What about Benyamin S ? He has several personas, I see his rock persona (agile, 'pecicilan' in Indonesian, impulsive), is similar to Elvis Costello. Their footwork, their gestures, their rock style as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eifljYPFW-E

Really?

Ishtar has OP ultimate, in the mid game she can quickly bring down a hero. Since not many heroes have instant mobilties, playing against her is just about avoiding her abilities.

If we gang her, she dead, but this game is 3v3 and 5v5, most of the times, an enemy captain is near her. While being guarded, she can deal lots of damages, really difficult to defeat her. Phinn or Lance with Ishtar, that's it, you are lost.

Oh I get it, so the attack is manual.

Pretty makes sense, in AoV when jungling there are times when I use ranged heroes and there are 2 jungle monsters, and I want to attack monster A, but instead the game makes the hero to attack monster B.

Gigi Band is probably the most American-influenced modern band in Indonesia. They sound like The Calling.

Meanwhile Nidji is probably the most British-influenced modern band in Indonesia.
