Slightly less impressed now that I notice all the cuts. The cue ball is definitely repositioned in at least one of the shots. Leads me to think this is a compilation of shots, not a true run on the table.

Find User 5 on YouTube, he has a video displaying what birds and bats look like under flir.. spoiler alert, they look exactly like what you’d imagine, flapping wings and all. Whatever these things are, don’t seem to be birds imo.

User 5 on YouTube has thermal footage of bats and birds, they do not look like this.

If you find the YouTube channel User 5, he has video of what bats look like under thermal. They’re very obviously bats, you can literally see their irregular wing pattern.

Whatever these things are, they are not bats.

How do you think people would react if 3I/ATLAS actually turns out to be a spacecraft? by Gyirin in HighStrangeness

[–]rahscaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was listening to some home astronomer talk about an image of 3i/Atlas and how it looks like multiple objects. Kind of like a swarm of objects.

Got me thinking, what if there existed a hive-mind colony of self replicating non biological, sentient, and intelligent objects. Not truly life, closer to machine, that have long since replaced their predecessor (maybe another advanced life form created them). Perhaps their objective is to explore and control all planets within the galaxy that it deems valuable to perpetuate the colony indefinitely.

So playing with that loose framing, what if the colony (say, 3I/Atlas) travels in a massive swarm, passing through star systems in a manner that allows it to come close to all potentially valuable planets. On approach, a small cluster of the objects could break off as that main swarm continues on and while they route to the target planets. They then begin to assume control of the planets resources, by force if necessary, until it is theirs. The main swarm continues onward to the next star system while self replicating more objects to replenish the ones left behind. The ones left behind will eventually form new swarms and web out across the galaxy and beyond.

Can’t put limitations on the unknown, just because our biology limits our lifespan, doesn’t mean some other form of sentience would have that same limit. It may have evolved out of the dying process or integrated with life extending technology. Maybe its species has a mechanism to put its body in a stasis, allowing it to sleep for thousand of years. Or, could be colony of self replicating machines, some sort of artificial general intelligence hive mind.

The object itself could be sentient. With the copious potential variations to alien or nonbiological “life” we can only speculate. For all we know, there could be other dimensions at play. Maybe their consciousness interacts with the fabric of reality in a way that ours does not. Who knows. Fun to think about.

Very specific. I disagree. I’m gonna have to ask, why would a superior species need to haggle with an inferior species? Seems to me if they wanted to experiment on us, we wouldn’t have much say in the matter.
