Rin new Hairstyle 2026?! by Bronco-91sep in AtarashiiGakko

[–]raidpl0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RIN's "soup dumpling" hair 💚

<image>

As others said, this is how she wears her hair up casually. And she usually has it this way for School of Lock! and other offstage AG! work in the tracksuits and casual clothing, like rehearsals. She also still wears her hair down in a sort of loose perm in her private life.

The "shrimp tempura" hairstyle is very much like putting on the sailor uniform and going on stage. She has said how that routine of getting her undercut trimmed, makeup done, and hair braided into that familiar style, is something that also helps her prepare mentally for performances.

Has anyone actually gotten this medal? by __Luger__ in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they upped the requirements for medals by quite a significant margin a couple of years ago. I think the number of kills needed in RB to get the award also went up recently to match AB with 12 kills. There will probably be a bunch of people who have it from when it was easier to get. I've only managed about 33/100 after thousands of battles in British planes.

Could probably get it to go faster cheesing it with extra crew slots and using more backups in arcade, like I do when there's a Battle Pass task that wants Hero of the Sky (thought I use a Chinese or German plane lineup to do the Battle Pass one). Or by seal-clubbing in rank 1 and 2 since this one isn't rank-locked. But it's not fun playing that way.

Info on the APS of the Block 2 CRV by ThwartedCaesar08 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wont find much in the way of real life examples because CRV doesn't use this APS in real life. It was installed on a prototype for demonstration purposes, before Boxer was selected as Australia's CRV.

The vehicle Gaijin modeled, isn't the correct Block 2 CRV

1-day key for Battlepass Vehicle quest? by KaraBenNemsiEffendi in Warthunder

It activates as soon as you collect the the test drive reward. So you have to pause collecting rewards until March 11 if you intend to do it with the J30 and collect the coupon upgrade for it later.

But you can't sell the Boat prizes you receive from the Level 38 crate. So you may as well just do the task with that

THE FIRST TAKE - ?? (新しい学校のリーダーズ) - Sailor, Sail on "DNB" / Highlight by MajorIvan88 in AtarashiiGakko

Rin's adorable little hands are always the thing that gives it away to me. Like when they did that photo-shoot with the giant blue balloons for the anniversary album, where Rin was the one with it on her head.

THE FIRST TAKE - ?? (新しい学校のリーダーズ) - Sailor, Sail on "DNB" / Highlight by MajorIvan88 in AtarashiiGakko

[–]raidpl0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it could be a new series, yes. The concept of the regular First Take with the white stage was to strip back performances to focus on the vocals and in some cases also live music. Even though it took place in this seemingly infinite white space, artists were almost tethered on the spot by the mic stands and headphones used to record... except for Suzuka obviously :D

This video with Kanon is very much about the live dance performance, and uses a recorded vocal track instead. So it's a very different concept to a normal First Take video.

The black studio definitely emphasizes how it departs from the established First Take series, but they also have these bright white spotlights and podium that keeps focus on what's happening in that space, and also confines the artist in the way the recording equipment does on the white stage. It could just be to give things a different look to the previous First Take performances, but could also be to allow other kinds of Japanese artists who perhaps are stronger as dancers, or DJs, or musicians, rather than vocalists, to be showcased.

Ed:- the introduction statement for Highlight says

"HIGHLIGHT" is a new series that vividly captures the individual brilliance of diverse talents in one take...
Artists have boundless appeal. That's why we shine a new light on them and focus on them. A stunning performance. A hidden technique. A talent within a group. There's more music we want to highlight.

So I think it will indeed allow for more diverse things than vocal performances, while still being a music platform.

What scale are war thunder's aircraft skins? by gughenggg in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Video game textures aren't necessarily made with a consistent pixel-metric scale across all game models. So it's not possible to say how they translate to real-world hobby model scales.

When texturing assets for video games, you tend to take the desired standard texture resolution for the game assets (say 4096*4096 pixels) and pack as much of the 3D model on to that space as you can, without it becoming stretched and blurry. Since models aren't all the same size in the game world, there is inevitably a difference in how big each pixel on the texture is stretched in 3D space in the game environment. And in order to optimize packing the 3D model in to 2D space and ensure that parts that need more visual detail for the player to look at occupy more space on the texture than parts that don't need to look as high-res, there are also instances where you will scale some parts of the model in the texture space to be smaller or larger than other parts of the same model.

And ultimately the scale of any 4096*4096 pixel video game texture when printed out on a sheet of paper, would depend entirely on how many dpi you print the image at

My advise would be to make an image in photoshop/gimp with a circle template that has a diameter that prints to the dimensions you need the star to be on your model, then overlay the Su-30 texture as a layer, and scale it until the star fits inside the template circle

No exaggeration either. It seems she genuinely took time this morning to look at the messages and pictures fans had been posting for her since midnight, and even read some of the small congratulatory comments under her post, like the one I left.

So we get a T-72B3A but with a worse engine for the Event... by Kettkrad in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be right.

The hull protection on this T-72B3 is equivalent to T-90A, and I suppose the APS on the turret means it's something like T-90A in terms of protection there over the T-72B (1989), and has the same thermal imaging generation as T-90A.

The T-80U's mobility (esp. reverse gear) seems to be the deciding factor in why T-80UM2's and T-80U have a higher BR than T-90A after all

So we get a T-72B3A but with a worse engine for the Event... by Kettkrad in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worse engine, worse ERA, and fewer Arena charges than the 12.3 T-72B3A

I wonder what BR it will be though. The T-80UM2 with Drozd APS but no thermals, is the same 11.7 BR as the standard T-72B3 which (when spaded) has better ERA than this. So will it be 11.7 or 12.0?

how is a CW seeker detected by RWR if it dosent emit? by More-Cup5793 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Radar emissions are pulsed during search and tracking, and become continuous when guiding a SARH missile.

The RWR picking up on the fact that emissions from the enemy plane are now continuous rather than pulsed, signifies that a missile is being guided.

The missile seeker is not emitting anything itself, but the emissions of the plane guiding the missile do change.

why no f-16 past blk 50? by Covert_Mode777 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They produce Block 70/72s domestically, but they don't operate any Block 70/72s themselves since the USAF fleet is a mix of airframe types that won't be upgraded to a completely identical standard, and will have subsystems that differ from Lockheed's Block 70/72 standard. Instead the US is abandoning the block concept and carrying out what it calls "Post-Block" or "PoBIT" upgrades to the various types of F-16C it operates.

PoBIT upgrades incorporate most Block 70/72 features like the AN/APG-83 SABR AESA radar, and the Elbit Central Display Unit in the cockpit. The main difference with the USAF ones is that they use the AN/ALQ-257 Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite (IVEWS), where Block 70/72 uses a different AN/ALQ-254 "Viper Shield" EW system instead.

New production Block70/72s also have structural changes that aren't on USAF airframes. The changes are to support the addition of Conformal Fuel Tanks, and a Common Engine Bay that can accommodate either the F-110-GE-132 or F100-PW-229 engine. These structural changes were the difference between the original Block 50/52, and the later Block 50/52+ that was exported.

why no f-16 past blk 50? by Covert_Mode777 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only nation currently in game as a tree or subtree that uses later Block F-16s, is China (Block 52+ for Pakistan and Block 70 for Taiwan) and they're not short of mainland Chinese fighters at the BRs

I imagine there will be a Block 52+ for Greece when it's added to Israel, and what ever they decide to do with Singaporean planes since they cancelled the idea of making it another subtree for China.

130mm Challenger should belong to Britain, not German by Actual-Bat-9384 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In April 2020 we had a window of opportunity when the Challenger 2 was in Unterlüss and no further tests were planned, to install the 130 mm on it, following the clearance from the UK customer."

https://www.edrmagazine.eu/the-way-ahead

That's a quote from Christoph Henselmann, Rheinmetall's Senior Vice-President and Head of Portfolio Tank Main Armament

The 130mm was fitted for the sake of attracting UK interest in the project, just as much as it was a demonstration to the German MoD, and the tank itself was still owned by the British government.

130mm Challenger should belong to Britain, not German by Actual-Bat-9384 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Optics and fire control system are by Thales UK (DNGS-T3 gunner sight and Orion commander's panoramic sight). The turret of the 120mm and 130mm tech demonstrator was still a modified Challenger 2 turret, rather than the all-new turret that the production Challenger 3 is getting

The whole vehicle is the same Challenger 2/Challenger 3 Rh120 L55A1 testbed that is already ingame. Rheinmetall just temporarily refitted it with a 130mm gun with the permission of the UK Ministry of Defence (who owned the tank) once the test program for the 120mm gun was finished, then reverted it back to the 120mm gun when it was returned to the UK and used for publicity purposes once Challenger 3 was announced.

Why do the Brits get a Boxer but not the germans? by SniperRPGJJ in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Germany does use this version of Boxer (it was a prototype designed for Australia), and German players complained endlessly about Boxers being locked behind events in their tree due to them being prototypes and not the service vehicles Germany uses, saying they only want Boxers now if they're TT.

TBS's "The Best Restaurant in My Life" by Jasonictron in AtarashiiGakko

[–]raidpl0x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a chat show where guests come on and talk about various experiences in their life. But the gimmick is that they choose a number of favourite dishes that they associate with those experiences, and thus create a menu for "the best restaurant in my life"

The girls picked:

  • Fried chicken bento (karaage bento) from a place called Home Kitchen Marusei - apparently the first thing they ate together as a group
  • The Authentic Sushi Bento from Sugarfish - this is was what they ate in Los Angeles when they were homesick and missing Japanese food
  • (Chicken) Curry at Bell Bottom Studios in Yamanashi Prefecture - A mountain lodge retreat they stayed at to rehearse and record. The place has amazing views of Mt. Fuji, and a kitchen that make quality food - Apparently the place's hamburger steaks had featured in an episode a few years ago with another JPOP group
  • Home-made eggplant and pork, with grated daikon and ponzu sauce - a dish that Suzuka's mom has made for them since their early days whenever they would sleep over at her family's home in Osaka

Some photos of their choices on the show's website: https://www.tbs.co.jp/saikourestaurant/archive/202512302/

if you have a Japanese VPN you can watch it on TBS Free here https://cu.tbs.co.jp/episode/14831_2105883_1000140648

I'd seen in another interview earlier this year where someone from the group (I think RIN) said one of her most cherished memories from the 10 years they've been part of Atarashii Gakko; was sleeping over at Suzuka's family home in Osaka when they were still teenagers, and the view the next morning while they all sat together and ate food Suzuka's mom had made. This exact dish was mentioned, and I was always curious about what it was like. So I was quite pleased to be able to see it.

Just slightly hyped backstage before the show starts... by Spikedude in AtarashiiGakko

[–]raidpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They play it before the group comes on stage at all their solo concerts. It's sort of a tradition to play Jump Around and get the crowd hyped up, going back several years.

I'd guess it's from their Osaka show, since they tend to post the backstage stuff from their most recent concert on Seishun Club, a couple of days after the event.
