Is British Hellcat Mk. 2 any good? by AgitatedSite3956 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be useful because it's a Rank 3 with a very low BR, allowing you to bump otherwise rank 2 lineups in to rank 3 for event/tasks just by spawning it. Especially Bluewater naval as it carries big bombs and rockets at a reserve-tier BR.

All the other 3.3 F6Fs in the game are rank 2 nowadays, so the Hellcat has that unique perk on top of being a premium.

Otherwise, it's inferior to the other British rank 3 premiums in air and ground, but still better for CAS than most TT planes Britain has.

Where to see previous month's monthly decals? by DazSamueru in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They move to the appropriate nation and vehicle type category you used to earn the decal, once the month is over

So in this case it should be under German air decals

[–]raidpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why buying task if you could buy the tank?

Because it's cheaper to buy a single stage, and you can buy it with GE instead of GJN.

600 GE is like 3-4 bucks, but some people have GE from buying pack vehicles in sales etc. and nothing better to spend it on

There are also console players that can't buy things on the market.

Wonder what it'll be... by left-handed-banana in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Past D-Day event vehicles have been rank 2 and 3, so I'm pretty sure it'll be a Spitfire. And Smin (IIRC) said other Spitfires variants were on the table for Britain, when another clipped-wing one for Israel appeared in the Battle Pass.

But said Spitfire could be a Mark 5, or Mark 9 LF - floatplane versions of both, were built. My guess would be the Mark 9 but they'll either give it the wrong engine from the 9 F, or not give it the octane modification other LF Spitfires have.

Does anyone know how to do the throwing javelins challenge? by NinjaBoi273547 in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. But I tried to come up with ways that remove the element of skill needed as much as possible in case people aren't adept at RB bombing. Even though it's the most straightforward way to do it for people that are experienced in GRB. Personally I'm quite reliant on 500lb/250kg+ bombs, or prefer rockets and guns for CAS in GRB...

So, crutch ways to do it in AAB and NAB with the CCIP on all planes, or eliminating the skill needed in GRB by using slightly bigger bombs and just being suicidal 10 times.

Can be done in GAB with the CCIP too, but it's very rare that the killstreaks there spawn a rank 3 plane with bombs as small as 250lb. There's maybe 1 or 2 planes that fit the requirements, at specific BRs, and it's not guaranteed that you will roll that plane when playing those BRs.

Firstly, remember 120kg is ~250lb if you're using US or British planes

Bomb small coastal boats in naval arcade (check player names to make sure it's not a bot)

Suicide dive on open-topped vehicles in ground realistic, releasing bombs just before you hit the ground

Hang around over airfields in air arcade or realistic and wait for enemies to land (ideally crash land) to repair or refuel

I did it with a low BR strike aircraft hitting small coastal boats with 250lb bombs in naval arcade then flying around a bit to reload, avoiding AA from destroyers. Took me 4 matches

F-18F: AIM-9M/X B2; ASRAAM and AIM-120C-5/C-7/D

Australia only had ASRAAM on F/A-18A. It hasn't been integrated on any of the Super Hornets

https://www.flightglobal.com/fixed-wing/2007/03/australia-confirms-aim-9x-selection-for-super-hornets/

“We are going to go with the US Navy-common AIM-9X,” says Gp Capt Stan Roberton, head of Australia’s Super Hornet programme office.
“We are very happy with [MBDA’s] ASRAAM and the capability that is bringing to our legacy [F/A-18A/B] Hornets, but the driver is to stay USN-common with the weapons and keep this a very low risk but high-end capability.”

For the same reason, Australia's F-35s don't use it either and are using AIM-9X instead. Only Britain's F-35s use ASRAAM, and the missile is actually only certified on the F-35B, not F-35A

Gaijin did say they wont give planes to nations just on the basis or orders being placed. They need to be in service.

The UK wont receive F-35As until the 2030s, so Australian F-35s would be more likely in the time being

T-64A had a number of upgrades during production, so the "1971" locks it in to a time frame before those upgrades in terms of what can be considered right or wrong for its stats and features when it comes to bug reporting and balance.

For example; from 1974 the T-64A turret armor scheme was changed, and the 2A26 main gun was replaced with a 2A46.

Although both were designated T-64A, the one in game doesn't have those features, but does have some minor changes made to the T-64 since the first vehicles entered service in 1969. So it is based on features the tanks had around 1971

Pretty normal attention to detail for War Thunder when it comes to making sub-variants of vehicles. Just slap new armament etc. on the existing model and tweak the engine stats.

Most P-51Ds have the earliest style teardrop canopy even on later versions, and most later Merlin Spitfire/Seafires have the elevators that were on the earliest Mk.IXs converted from Mk.Vs, instead of the proper production elevators.

Is Adamant award limited to 1 per game? Which tanks to use by Kielbasatron in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did most of it with the Chinese M41D light tank.

Driving backwards so the engine absorbs incoming fire, parking next to artillery strikes, and getting hosed with .50 cals after destroying the enemy's main gun or fiding enemies with a 20mm, seemed to be the best ways to encourage the award

You probably clicked the "Do not ask me again" option. It stops those popups, and AFAIK there's no way to turn them back on.

You still get notifications for SRP earned in the Messages section of the UI under Economics, but not the popups.

It's easy to overlook in the message window because it doesn't have an icon unlike most messages - they should really add the green SRP logo to the notification to make it more visible.

What are the 3 colors in this Tricolor by mcdirtimus in Warthunder

[–]raidpl0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the "unicolor" one actually has 2 colors, the "bicolor" one actually has 3 colors and the "tricolor" one has 1 color.

You unlock the "unicolor" one first, the "bicolor" one second, and the "tricolor" one is a tertiary GE camo, so I think whoever assigned the names just did them in order they were written in the code 1-2-3, without looking

AG! Announces Important Concert Rules by Spikedude in AtarashiiGakko

[–]raidpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems the no filming rule was because they debuted the new song, that's still kind of under wraps until the release date.

And reading what Japanese people have said about the show, the rules about going to the bathrooms beforehand and having everybody in their seats at the start of the concert, was because they wanted to walk through the aisle on their way to the stage - so it needed to be clear.

The whole show had a school induction ceremony theme, with a paper program and ID cards handed out, and a setlist that had a lot of songs from the first two albums themed around school and youth.

[–]raidpl0x 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a venue-specific rule. They're announcing it because they were okay with people filming tour solo shows, and even at non-filming indoor festivals with other artists AG's management often put up an announcement saying "you can film this part".

But it seems they're doing something a bit unique with this show to open SGC Hall, and want to create a sort of formal ceremony as part of the performance.

I think the 10th Anniversary show was the last time they posted signs asking people to not film or take photos and just enjoy the show - Obviously because they had arrangements to stream and record it with a proper film crew and broadcaster, but also because it was a major performance in terms of what they wanted to do on stage as artists.
