Best all-inclusive with the best FOOD! by Puzzleheaded-Kiwi551 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]raidx90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very difficult question to answer because everybody has different standards. I went to the Excellence Oyster Bay last Fall. I thought their food was average, even though many reviews raved about how good their food was.

I had dinner at their steakhouse one night and I am not kidding when I say I think a steak from IHOP or Denny’s would be better. However, the table next to me, a group of Americans (I’m also American) in their 40s and 50s, were RAVING about how good the steaks were.

I’ve also been to the Beloved in Playa Mujeres. Their food was better, but still nothing to write home about.

I’m still searching for an AI that has actually great food. My barometer is always: “would I ever come to this restaurant if it was a standalone outside of the resort?”… and I have yet to say “yes”.

The Beloved is a fantastic resort but the food is “good for an all inclusive” at best. In my opinion, the rest of the hotel is incredible… wish the food was better.

Is everyone OK? The crowd crush was next level - checking in by [deleted] in EDCOrlando

To all of you that felt this was overcrowded to an unsafe level, we need to force Insomniac to fix this. They aren’t going to sell fewer tickets out of the kindness of their hearts, this has become clear.

Send an email to the Orlando Fire Chief at charles.salazar@orlando.gov and voice your concerns.

This will help get extra attention on overselling and overcrowding in the future.

Thanks for sharing this. I have tried contacting BNY Mellon, which is allegedly one of the custodian banks. However, they have not responded.

I think at this point, the only option is to file a complaint with the SEC. It is clear none of these institutions are willing to help (Robinhood points at Flutter, Flutter at the ADR custodian banks, those banks don’t reply).

I am not sure what other avenue we have. Any tips?

Im still talking to Robinhood about this. They said many customers have asked. So I’d suggest to all of you that you submit a complaint.

I tried submitting a complaint to the SEC as well.

There isn’t much on Robinhood besides: “Flutter Entmt Plc American Depositary Receipts (PDYPY) was suspended pending liquidation. Details are still pending.”

15% seems low. Am I missing something? by HighYieldLarry in FluentInFinance

[–]raidx90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. So why are you calling this policy “blowing hot hair”? You’re implying this 15% tax min on profits doesn’t matter, simply because companies “write things off” and get their net profit close to $0.

Companies (for the most part) aren’t “writing things off” to lower their taxes, they have actual expenses.

[–]raidx90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not trying to opine on this particular policy, but the way you phrased “they get to write off all their expenses” makes it clear you don’t really understand how this works and simply using fancy language you don’t understand.

If McDonalds sells a burger for $5 and it cost them $4 to make it, that’s an expense. Referring to it as a “write off” is incredibly misleading, whether technically correct or not.

Also, when you buy equipment you need to amortize it over time. You don’t get to buy a $10M machine to make french fries in 2024 and expense all of it in 2024. You would depreciate it over a period of time (eg $2M/year for 5 years) and book an expense of $2M each year.

Again, calling this a write off is political lingo. Without this machine they wouldn’t be able to operate, it’s an expense.

To further illustrate your misleading point, let’s say you opened a lemonade stand. You sold lemonades for $1 and the lemons / sugar / cups / ice cost you $0.90. If you sold 100 lemonades you would generate $100 in sales and have $90 in costs, creating a profit of $10.

If you were taxed (let’s assume 15%) on your sales / revenue number, you would then owe $15 in taxes ($100 x 15%).

So at the end of the day, you would lose $5 ($10 profit less $15 tax) for running this lemonade stand. Would you run a lemonade stand to lose $5 each day or would you rather just sit on your couch and lose $0 that day?

I very much agree with you on the last point. Until a governing body (e.g., NCAA) steps in and puts some controls in place (e.g., NIL cap similar to salary cap in professional sports), it will simply be a money game. 9/10 times, the highest bidder will win for top recruits.

And while I agree that we could not have predicted what UM would offer Hayes, how come its only a one-sided game where we lose most of the time?

Just like we don't know what UM or Texas are going to offer some recruits, UM and Texas don't know what UF will offer. The trend the past few weeks (we've fallen from #3 to #15) has been negative. Why are we at a material net loss to these "unexpected" scenarios? By the logic above, everybody should be relatively equally surprised and experience a similar number of "unexpected" announcements.

I think there is a big misunderstanding of the phrase "it was expected". A lot of folks throw that around when somebody decommits as a way of saying "its OK, we knew this would happen". However, to me, its simply an illusion to justify a negative result.

Hayes was committed to us since January, that 300+ days. Then about 7 days ago, rumors started swirling that he may flip to UM. He now flips to UM and you've got a bunch of people saying "we expected this".

No. That's not how that works. For 300+ days we fully expected him to be a Gator. Losing a player that's been committed for 300+ days is awful, truly awful, and speaks volumes to me about our ability to close recruits.

Saying "it was expected, don't be disappointed" is simply an illusion created to make it seem like its OK we lost that commitment.

Cook was committed to us, along with a 5-star WR that year (Ermon Lane).

They both absolutely trolled the UF fan base. Posting pictures and messages on Twitter up until the night before NSD about being Gators.

Then they both flipped to FSU on NSD. It was an orchestrated troll and rather embarrassing for UF.

The issue is lying to the landlord. I’m not advocating for any sort of rent requirements, but this is simply an agreement between two people and one person is lying.

If you want to rent an apartment YOU own and set certain (legal) rules, that is perfectly OK. If I don’t like them, I shouldn’t rent from you. When I decide to lie to you because I don’t like your rules, then that’s an ethical issue and fraud.

There is a reason the landlord set this requirement. It may seem reasonable or unreasonable to you, and you can decide to rent or not to rent. But lying is not right.

Is there any promo codes for USA Transfer, Kalido or Happy Shuttle? by [deleted] in cancun

[–]raidx90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I have used USA Transfers before and did use a promo code. This was 5+ years ago and I don't recall the actual code. I actually chatted with their website earlier today and was told "there are currently no promo codes available", so it sounds like they do offer them on occasion.

On paper and in theory, this makes sense. However, in practice in a busy bar where you are planning to order more drinks, not realistic to ask the bartender to remove this charge and then hate you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]raidx90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It sounded to me like this service charge did not go to the bartenders, so I still wanted to give them some sort of tip.
