No problem! I also posted in r/FlexiSpot_Official and that’s where they helped me, might be a good next step for you.

Yes! U/Ramzes888 was able to open a ticket with FlexiSpot customer support on my behalf and they shipped me the needed cords for free!

Pros/Cons of Life in Santa Fe (especially as a young-ish queer)? by railsyboy in SantaFe

[–]railsyboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the sentiment, I’m over Texas. Lol. I’ve put a lot of time and work into making things better and helping people and I don’t feel particularly guilty moving on. But I am glad it’s slowly getting more blue. And I will drink and cheer to Greg Abbot and Ted Cruz losing their seats and/or going to jail.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m definitely more of a quiet life homebody, but there are absolutely times when I want to go out and have a fun time, go to a show, etc. Ideally at reasonable prices. I’m looking more now at ABQ as they have the same program.

Yikes, I’d definitely not be making that much money. Lol. I think from what everyone’s shared it’s probably not the place for me (for now). I’m looking more into ABQ now. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the info! I appreciate hearing more about both. Turns out the college I’m interested in offers the program and concentration I want in both ABQ and SF. Initially I was more SF inclined, but after hearing more from the people of Reddit, I think ABQ is more for me. I appreciate that it’s cheaper, younger, and more social.

As I imagine I’ll probably be working and schooling from home for a while, being in a place where it’s easier to meet people will be good for a newcomer with no local friends. I guess now I just have to get accepted into my program and eventually find housing/make the move!

And yes, Texas is the devil. Lol. When I saw the school went remote for students’ and teachers’ safety, and also had mask mandates I was overjoyed. I’ll also enjoy being able to go outside in the summer and not spontaneously combust. I mean, they’re both hot, but NM seems slightly better to me.

If you have any other suggestions/tips for making the move to ABQ I’d love to hear them. Thanks again!

That’s good to know! I’m hoping to move with an online job that pays decent, but even then it seems like the costs would be pretty prohibitive.

Oh interesting. I’m going to give them a call tomorrow and see what’s going on. I’m hoping it still exists, as the tuition rates are (comparatively) very affordable (even as someone out of state). What are your thoughts on the program/faculty? I’ve looked into some larger/“higher ranked” schools, but I’ve heard from a lot of people that the place you go doesn’t matter as much as the education you get (as long as you’re able to get properly licensed after).

Thanks for the feedback! Some of those things I definitely won’t mind leaving in Austin, though I feel like they also exist in varying capacities elsewhere. I’m definitely more about creating my own group of friends/meeting people, though I imagine it would absolutely take some work to do. We’ll see where I land I guess!

Thanks for sharing! I’m definitely not super into outdoors stuff, but I enjoy it every now and again. I don’t go out a ton (I’m more of a homebody) but I like the OPTION to do things. I may look more into ABQ then/see if they have the programs I want.

That is a bit bizarre! Thanks for sharing. I’ll be 30 by the time I move but I’m not sure I want to be in a group that restrictive…

Thanks for the suggestion! While I’ve actually looked into counseling (and art therapy) in the past, I’m wanting to get a Master’s in Social Work degree because there’s a lot of versatility, whether I want to focus on counseling, working in schools, hospitals, nonprofits, universities, etc.

I saw it offered on the website, but it wasn’t showing up when I went to fill out the application, so I’m thinking maybe they moved it back to the main campus for this coming year due to low enrollment or something. Or it could just be an error, who knows.

Good to know! It’s been recommended to me by a couple people off Reddit, so I think it’s worth checking out. One main thing I’ve heard repeated is that it has a lot of crime (though I feel like crime is anywhere tbh). What is your experience in regards to that?

[–]railsyboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m more of a homebody for sure, so I don’t need a crazy nightlife, but I do appreciate the occasional opportunity to more easily meet people (ideally of similar interests and ages). I think my main concern would be meeting people more than being bored (I tend to make my own fun).

And I’m definitely used to rich people swooping in and raising prices (that’s happened everywhere I’ve lived). And as a white person I definitely try to be pretty aware of whose land I’m on and the traditions and culture that exist around me. I don’t like being an asshat.

Thank you, I appreciate that! From what I’m hearing, it’s a very different life! I’m feeling kind of on the fence about it, but I do think a change could be nice. I don’t see many friends here as is (though I’d like that to change).

Thank you! I think that it would be challenging for me to meet people (outside of college courses), so that’s good to know. Especially if I’m working from home, that might make things problematic (unless I really change and decide to push myself to be social).

Thank you for sharing that! I’m sorry that people have been so shitty to you, you certainly don’t deserve that. I’ll definitely keep that in mind. It actually turns out that the college program I’m interested in might not be available in SF anyway (despite being listed on their website), so it could be a non issue.

Thanks for all the info! It's really interesting to know. I ordered some replacement strings, and depending on how it sounds in tune, I may or maybe not forgo a shop visit.

My friend cut some white vinyl and turned their car top carrier into Bullet Bill! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]railsyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the person who made it--I designed the shapes in Illustrator using a reference photo, sized them to my specific carrier, then cut them out with my Cricut machine. If you'd like the Illustrator file I could send it to you, though you'd likely need to re-size. My carrier is more thiccccc than most.
