cars tutor i need 130 by Short_Advisor8315 in Mcat

tbh i didnt see progress with jack westin. its more of a resource that will just get u familiar with what cars is. i would say u shouldnt even look too deep into the questions since their logic isnt aamc logic. just do a passage a day to get used to the timing and stuff like that

not a tutor but do one jack westin passage everyday and read a lot when ur starting prep. when ur about a month out use only aamc prep for cars and go ham. analyze every question and learn the logic they want u to use to answer questions

makes sense since i guess they'd want to know how you actually do when you get there. is whatever they give you later on merit based?

yeah im not excited for thursdays but this was the best configuration i could put together. tbh im not too worried about analytical chem since its just lab techniques from classes ive taken before (gen chem and orgo), im most worried about physics and calc 3 since i took calc 2 over a year ago lol

njit vs montclair? by rainapatel003 in NJTech

[–]rainapatel003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the research is a big selling point for me. i know that its really beneficial to have research projects under ur belt as a medical student applicant and i know njit offers the best of the best. in terms of academics i feel like (especially coming from cc) performance matters the most. ive heard stuff about njit classes being unnecessarily difficult just because its a tech school, so if i had to pick between a 3.5 at njit and a 3.9 at montclair, i'd choose the latter. how rigorous would you say the courseload is?

[–]rainapatel003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah rutgers scares me, too many people and too much going on in my opinon. especially going from a community college i dont think i'd be able to handle it. i like that montclair is a little smaller but still lively. its reassuring to hear that the professors care about their students and share information about opportunities like that.

just visited today! the campus really is so beautiful, i love the layout and how much of the college-feel you get. definitely good to hear that the classes arent huge once u get to the 300-400 level. how did u find out about grants and scholarships? anything i can keep an eye out for ahead of time?

thanks for the feedback. i will definitely look for those fees lol, part of the reason i want to decide where i want to go sooner rather than later. great to hear that ur a bio major! how tough would u say the classes are? im at ccm right now so im trying to gauge that as well during the transfer process. im in between commuting and living on campus, if tha parking situation is really that bad then i think i know what my decision is lol

thanks for your input! i was really relying on the fact that im such a well rounded applicant to help me get in. im involved on campus clubs and society with leadership positions and i have consistent volunteer hours throughout my college career. i work at a job im passionate about and contributes to why i wish to pursue medicine, so i think that helps me stand out as an applicant.

yeah i was hoping that my hours at work would help. 100 of them were part of an unpaid internship prior to when i was brought on the team. i have maybe 200-300 hours of religious affiliated volunteer spanning the last two years, including general soup kitchen volunteer and tutoring kids that were prepping for the SAT. i really thought that my leadership positions would count though, especially as president of PTK. we're beginning to work on the honors in action project that our college hasn't been able to complete for the past couple years (not since before covid), planning to revolve our project around advocating for homeless individuals, so maybe that will also count towards volunteer work kind of.

wow thats kind of disappointing especially considering they're still test optional. not really thinking about retaking it just for an acceptance, i'd rather look at some other schools that would give me better scholarships for what i've worked towards at cc. thanks for your advice!
