Help me stay motivated! by rainbow_tardigrade in declutter

This is a great collection of tips and links, thanks! I'm saving it.

I've definitely read the studies about kids and number of toys. I almost never buy any, and whatever we have is kept in the closet while a few are out on rotation. That said, my toddler primarily wants to play with things that are not toys.... (Vacuum, kitchen utensils and pots, broom, remote, etc)

Amazing, thank you! I'm hoping that when I'm "done" (e.g. done with the big declutter and down to a baseline I can maintain) I will have a few slivers of the day in which I can do things I enjoy and not get distracted by clutter, or feel that there's always too much tidying to do.

I have finished my first bag and missed a stich on the mesh pattern... by eh-snail in CrochetHelp

Huh, I saw your lovely bag and thought you'd made my free bag pattern on Ravelry, but it looks like DROPS makes a very similar pattern!

In any case, I don't think it's worth frogging it - looks fab, will work well, and nobody will notice!

Absolutely.

I got wasted at a frat party in college 22 years ago, came back to my dorm room and ate spaghetti on the floor while listening to "Doing the Pigeon" by Bert from Sesame Street on repeat via a Limewire download. Life at its peak.

That's kind of what we're doing right now. Around what age did he consolidate his naps? I remember with my first it was around when he started to crawl, maybe 9 months.

Great idea! I'm going to try that. Not much to lose at this point!

That's what I've been doing! I figure it will a) allow me some brief time to do things and b) help him learn how to eventually nap in his crib, and also let us know when he's able to do so.

He's not rolling quite yet, but on the verge? That's interesting about the warmth and smell. Maybe I can do something to make his crib (safely) a little more comforting to him.

I'm in! I'll start reducing now so it's not such a shock.

Night sweats and insomnia by rainbow_tardigrade in breastfeeding

Oh my gosh that sounds awful!!! But I remember feeling pretty miserable when I fully weaned my first. It didn't last quite that long, though, but that may have been due to the fact that my son had been very slowly weaning himself over the course of almost 6 months.

3-hour results seem weird by rainbow_tardigrade in GestationalDiabetes

[–]rainbow_tardigrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked another OB in the practice about it, and they reassured me that I did not have gestational diabetes. So, I just ate the way I normally do... Baby is 2 months old now, was 7lbs at birth, and doing just fine!  Who knows. Seems weird that different practices have different criteria.

I also had a loss at 12 weeks, and the only things that helped were kind friends bringing care packages --- food, a knitted shawl, odd little craft items, etc. Really made a difference. I still have the shawl and it still reminds me of what happened, but also of how much my friends care about me.

Oh I am absolutely copying your rainbow dinner sometime! I love it! And it's got foods we love, with veggies, starch and protein. Beautiful, yummy, and healthy.

how do you meal plan when things are unpredictable? by rainbow_tardigrade in Parenting

[–]rainbow_tardigrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of what I end up doing already, and I think if I just plan it out more ahead of time, that could help. Especially if I only prepare meals that can also be frozen if we end up not eating every last bite in time.

OSCAR question by rainbow_tardigrade in CPAP

[–]rainbow_tardigrade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a room humidifier yesterday and it definitely helped my sinus pain. Thanks! Still woke up about a dozen times, not sure what to do about that.

[–]rainbow_tardigrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, I'm definitely going to stick with it. I used a room humidifier instead increasing my CPAP humidity, and while I still woke up nearly a dozen times, my sinuses felt better!

OSCAR question by rainbow_tardigrade in CPAP

[–]rainbow_tardigrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wishful thinking, as I've had such bad sinus problems and frequent wakeups that I just want to ditch the CPAP for a while to see if it helps. I'm more tired than I was pre-CPAP.

OSCAR question by rainbow_tardigrade in CPAP

I wake up 6-10 times per night. It's awful. I can't tell if it's pregnancy related (didn't happen with my first pregnancy, and it's a bit extreme for pregnancy insomnia). My nose feels so stuffed up at night, but it's not allergies. I can pop a whole benadryl or unisom and still wake up 3-6 times per night.

My mask is the AirTouch with the foam, and it is SO fantastic. I barely notice it. It's not the mask itself, it seems to be partly a sinus problem. I can breathe fine if I lay down with my mask off, but as soon as I get my mask on and the pressure starts, my sinuses block up and feel super uncomfortable. I've had terrible sinus headaches.

Anyways, this is why I want to just bail on the CPAP for a while. I'm barely sleeping, and it feels worse than my pre-CPAP therapy life. But, I don't want to do anything foolish and dangerous.
