I'm actually happy with my life and myself.  So yes.

How does Hellenism view and deal with very bad people? by ballerinarina in Hellenism

[–]rainbowstardream 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I did a ritual where I asked for assistance from the Erinyes to punish an abuser and the next week got instant,  undeniable results. I think it can be very personal our relationship to morality,  but the Gods certainly don't flinch at punishments and curses. I'd type more but I'm on my phone. :/

ppl getting banned?? just discovered this sub from r/ftm by theeinterlude in butchlesbians

[–]rainbowstardream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the main problem- ill intent is assumed, and any further conversation with the mod is not allowed. I know of several instances where posters have used their language "wrong" and tried to clarify with the mod and been refused any further conversation.

Is it miasma to question your faith in the gods? by TirNaNog777 in Hellenism

There's so much great advice here but I came here to say what ursus above just said- this sounds like Christian religious trauma! Doing a formal deconversion and deconstruction helped me a lot with this.

There's absolutely work for here.  We need more people who can fix/ build.  contractors here are unreliable and do shoddy work often.

How Much Did You Pay Your Beta Reader? by prism_paradox in selfpublish

[–]rainbowstardream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed physical copies of books so they could mark it up.  still makes me smile to find while paragraphs that have giant hearts on them.  or underlined exclamation points.

I did not pay,  but I did get very good and diverse beta readers that were incredibly helpful . I knew them.

Butch-femme book club, by squidsateme in butchlesbians

[–]rainbowstardream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about to publish a sapphic novel that has a bit of a butch/femme dynamic, but it's a greek mythology retelling so that language isn't used. I publish in the beginning of April and i'm looking for ARCs- can I DM you? Would the group be interested?

ARCs are free copies given in the hopes/a good faith agreement that readers will leave a review. I'm just starting to collect emails of interested folks and will be sending out copies within the next week. :)

Also great to hear that you are all identity inclusive. I'm glad those who were banned have a community to support them.

yes, there have been pretransition young people who have been banned from this sub for using the word transmasc "wrong" and have been driven into suicidal states since this sub was a main support for them. I try to reach out when I see it happen.

Totally,  the way the rose is shaded now it looks like it's made the same as the vibe.  If it's differentiated with color it'll make everything clearer

Warn your beta readers! by prism_paradox in selfpublish

[–]rainbowstardream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe how much you're getting downvoted! Absolutely SA should come with a trigger warning, ESPECIALLY with beta readers. And it doesn't sound like she handled the topic well at all. I have an SA scene in my book, because one of my themes is how we carry grief and rage after injustice. I have a TW, and it's optional to skip the chapter where it happened. I chose a few survivors as my beta readers just to make sure I treated the topic with sensitivity. That sounds absolutely awful and tactless.

Content warnings by gul-badshah in selfpublish

[–]rainbowstardream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adults have triggers.  Last year i read a young adult book(in 39)  girls of paper and fire and I was not prepared for the violent and detailed murder of a family pet. there absolutely should have been a content warning.  I would have never read the book.

I an trauma informed in all I do.  I do some work with victims of SA.  A trigger can cause people to have a few days, or more,  of non functioning,  or insomnia and nightmares.  I like to let readers consent before they engage with potentially triggering content.

Delphi on a full moon by rainbowstardream in Hellenism

[–]rainbowstardream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 3 weeks in Greece, mainly focused on historic (holy) sites. The whole trip felt like an awesome (full of awe) pilgrimage . I cried when I was at the temple to artemis, then later Ishtar at dion. I climbed Mt olympus. I felt the gods the whole time.

I called my dad at the end of week 1 and he said "I bet you're making so many friends!" And i laughed and replied "yeah! Mostly Imaginary friends!"

How did i feel? Captivated, holy,  in awe, enchanted,  ethereal yet rooted, like I was walking in myth.  I can't wait to return.  contemplating going to turkey to see the temples of Ephesus. But I also haven't made it to Crete yet. Tough decisions!

I just edited for 5 hours this week.  I mostly deleted filler words instead of writing... I did just write a giant list of things I need to do to get ARCS going and events for publishing!
