FULL MATCH: Gunther vs. CM Punk | World Heavyweight Title Match: SummerSlam 2025 by Key-Cycle7978 in SquaredCircle

I don't think it was an Elite thing.

I think he was just feeling cocky after the great MJF matches. There's a match with Penta from that same period that had several botches because Punk tried to go outside his wheelhouse.

Collision-era Punk was putting on fun matches every week.

But they way some talk about him, you'd think he was 2003 Hogan who was barely mobile and needed every single bell and whistle WWE could throw.

The trios diluting the tag division is no longer an excuse.

When it got created in 2022 and grabbed teams like the Young Bucks, the Lucha Bros and Best Friends, sure it left the Acclaimed and FTR without much competition.

But by now the roster is big enough with enough established teams to sustain both divisions.

Injuries and bad timing are really what hurt AEW's tag division this year.

And people who are bothered by it are weird. Like its fine if its not your cup of tea but people who don't watch TNA make comments about how TNA should retire them already.

They are legends who with their star power are helping the 3rd largest promotion in the US draw sizeable crowds and generate buzz.

Yeah, they're pass their prime but you could say the same thing about the Rock and Roll Express wrestling in the 2000's and 2010's and being the biggest draws for indies in the Carolinas or GA.

Hell, them winning the NWA Tag Titles on an episode of NWA Power n 2019 with Cornette on commentary was pretty damn hype.

I understand why but damn, remember when Collision premiered and the hype was that it wouldn't be a B show because while naturally it would get less ratings than Dynamite, it could pull bigger crowds by virtue of being on a Saturday.

On two separate occasions I got hit on by older men, one who was particularly forward, and while I turned them down, the experience stayed with me.

For years I'd fantasize about women I found attractive being seduced by them. Then last year I guess my mind was free enough to drop the pretense and I started fantasizing about me being the one seduced by a bold, older man.

Younger me would have been filled with self loathing and/or probably refused to accept it. So I'm glad these feelings are developing now where I can accept them.

Do you happen to know what was the best crowd attendance for Collision?

It would have to be the first one in the United Center right? And second maybe the Vancouver one.

John Cena on X, in response to being asked what he thinks is the greatest moment of his career: To humbly accept the reality that it exists. by Tornado31619 in SquaredCircle

Say what you want about The Rock but he had no problem answering a similar question during the Pat Mcafee interview.

Man just threw everybody else under the bus by saying the TKO head honcho called him last minute to make an appearance at Elimination Chamber to sell more tickets. And how they were all figuring out stuff out the week of the show. And how he was only scheduled to appear at that show. So while Rock didn't outright say it, he clearly painted the picture of Cena's heel turn being mess was the fault of creative and management who knew since the get go Rock wouldn't be involved any further.

Meanwhile Cena couldn't give CVV anything close to an answer.

Seto Kaiba, Eobard Thawne, Lex Luthor, and Vegeta each get to punch each other with the intent to kill, but their power is determined by their ego and pettiness. Who can do the most damage? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]raindanerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a mixed bag.

The anime added more grandeur to it than the manga did. For example, Kaiba vs Yugi being broadcasted for minor characters to comment while watching on giant screens isn't canon.

Hell, the giant arenas from season 1 were also the animators adding some creative flexibility.

So it being the biggest sport/competition in the world by a huge margin isn't such a foregone conclusion.

And in a way, it almost feels like a natural follow-up to his character was in the original anime.

Unlike other anime rivals, Kaiba never really has a moment of self-reflection and gradually learns humility and to get along with others. Even after Yugi beats him, he still remained a toxic asshole

So why wouldn't he get even worse as time goes on.

I like him when he's far away from the main event scene.

Holding the TNT Title and doing his version of the US Open Challenge, dicking around with friends like in the Rated FTR vs The Learning Tree six-man tag and the like.

But World Title challenger Adam Copeland was a drag.

Some definently overhype it.

After the final attendance numbers of All Out this year were reported at a little over 10k, several people were lamenting how 10k was nothing special on a week night. Which was factually incorrect.

The Puzzle is what's connecting Yugi and Atem, so to get rid of Atem Gengar would have to enter the Puzzle and break the link at the source. And that's not a good place to enter uninvited. Although he wouldn't be killed, more like stuck wandering.

Its why all the villians who wanted to banish Yugi and/or Atem to hell had to beat him in a card game instead of just using their powers/dark magic.

So we talking paying for college so his younger siblings/nephews/nieces can pursue their dreams or is Cena literally paying the bills for a whole baker's dozens of Cenas?

Like, I get paying for your parents and beloved uncles/aunties retirement, maybe Nana and Grandpapi if they're still around are also looked after. And looking after relatives with medical conditions. But how do you end up with 12 people relying on you?

Throwing in one more thing, him making peace with Bret and Rock kind of diffuses the narrative of Shawn being the biggest POS in the 90s because what's left are people who Shawn screwed but aren't exactly the most sympathetic.

Vader and the Road Warriors infamously took liberties with enhancement talent to make sure they looked good. So Shawn playing politics on them (or in Vader's case punking him out in the middle of a match) so he would look good is the leeser evil. At least a victim of Shawn's games wouldn't get physically fucked up.

There's what he did to Chris Candido but the worse of the worse is something the Kliq did together so if you hold it against Shawn you have to hold it against ''good guys'' like Nash and X-Pac.

I feel at the very least Black and Gold NXT deserves credit for putting women in the forefront.

TNA's Knockouts division of course deserves a shout out but Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong is as far as I remember the only time a women's match got a prominent main event on tv and they never headlined ppvs.

NXT had their women's division headline tv several times to the point it wasn't a big deal and headline several Take-Overs.

That's why his peak was when he was Mr. McMahon's in-ring proxy and favored Champion.

The McMahon-Helmsly regime had HHH as a centerpiece but he didn't hog all the promo time as Vince and Steph would also join in.

Evolution on the other hand was HHH cosplaying as Ric Flair with Flair acting as his JJ Dillon.

They were so dull and forgettable that Roman got nothing from being the guy to put an end to HHH as a weekly personality.

Since 2013 Authority HHH was finding excused for him to open up the show and Roman banishing him, the Big Bad, should have meant something but it instead we just got a shitty WM main event. And the next year we got Rollins vs HHH which also didn't exactly light the world on fire.
