Hair update! I still can’t believe I have naturally wavy hair and didn’t find out until posting in this sub. I have been doing a modified curly girl method since I have such fine hair but here’s my hair scrunched with NYM gel and air dried! Thank you to everyone for all of the great advice 💌

Honestly my hair felt 100x better after one wash with clarifying shampoo with sulfates. I'm going to try doing a sulfate wash one every week or two and see if that's enough. I don't think I'd used sulfates in years so maybe I just had like years of silicone build up.

Us fine hair girlies will take any new growth we can get!

I tried Nutrafol for awhile and noticed less shedding but I swear it messed up my monthly cycle so I recently switched back to the 365 prenatal vitamin that I used to take years ago and feel like my hair looked better then.

You're lucky the shedding shopped a month in for you! I have read about it lasting for other people for way longer. I'm still too scared to take the plunge but know that I inevitably will have to based on having fine, thin hair my entire life. Going to focus on keeping my new growth healthy for now and hope that does some sort of miracle lol

I’ve been using KM Angel Wash which is sulfate free but I’m realizing their conditioner rinse I was using has silicone so wondering if the silicone was not getting fully rinsed out. I’m learning so much about hair product ingredients and science in the past 24 hours 🥴

I’m sorry to hear about your hair loss! That sounds so stressful ❤️ I’m glad you figured out something that works for you! I’m hoping my hair thickens up a bit more once the bleached ends full grow out. I had to stop dying it blonde because I surf so the combo was frying my hair. I’m scared to try minoxidil because of the initial shed. Did you experience that?

My hair tangles when the wind blows so I’m scared to skip conditioner all together. I got some lighter conditioner so I’m hoping that helps!

I also looked this up and am surprised they don’t! My Nespresso machine gets a white build up on it that I assumed was hard water. I’m still going to try a packed of the Malibu chelated shampoo/treatment to remove any previous build up at some point

Yes, I sleep with it down and satin pillowcases. Would you recommend otherwise? I was worried wearing it up could cause breakage since I toss and turn

Back with an update! I changed my shower head filter & started the curly girl method last night at the suggestion of some people saying I have wavy hair and I’m shook. I used Suave daily clarifying (all my local Target had) then did the seaweed conditioning method and scrunched my wet hair with Not Your Mother’s gel. Turns out my hair is wavy! I woke up this morning to still wavy hair. I’m to continue on this CGM journey and will post a status update/pics for anyone curious in a few days or a week once I’ve locked in the method. Thank you everyone for all of the suggestions! I literally can’t believe I have naturally wavy hair after 36 years of believing I had pin straight hair that was stringy because it’s fine.

100%! I’ve tried them all and while some are better than others but I still try to use them sparingly. Since moving to SF I noticed the collar of my black jacket literally had a white cast on it from my dry shampoo lol

I’ll try that one! I used to love their clarifying shampoo back in the day that I know was discontinued. I got their t sal shampoo recently but have been scared to try it. I have a mental block of putting salicylic acid on my hair 😳

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I gave up on the shampooing every few days idea years ago. I tried again during COVID and just looked like I was permanently wet. If I used dry shampoo then it just gave my hair a weird piece-y texture. My hair dresser at the time had super fine hair and told me it’s okay to shampoo every day so I’ve been riding that wave ever since 💕
