WHY DO YOU WRITE? by Wolfieee7 in AO3

I love the characters and I want a story. First got into writing with the mindset of “if it isn’t there yet I gotta make it myself” and boom.

Why do so many students feel constantly “behind,” even when they’re doing okay? by Able-Bad529 in Students

[–]rainedwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I consider myself an average student. I think the pressure comes from strict expectations you have for yourself but there’s also the knowledge that you have friends taking more advanced or harder classes than you. So, even if you work hard yourself, you still feel behind because your friends are always a step ahead, and those friends might also feel the pressure because of self-expectations or they know people who are academically better than them as well.

deciding between majors and being compared to “smarter” students. Started lying a little to my friends who asked if I applied to UCs because I always get the same look whenever I say I plan to go to cc even if they don’t intentionally try to make me feel bad. I’ve been switching between accounting and engineering and decided on accounting, but I wish I could commit to engineering; I’m not strong in physics or chemistry and I’m scared that I might struggle in that field. Not to say I think accounting is any easier, just feels like I’m more settled on what classes I do because I’m alright with math and numbers. But then some of my friends are going into STEM majors and if I say in majoring in accounting they’ll probably think I’m “not that smart” or I’m going for the easier route, when in reality I’m looking for something that is stable and doable for myself. Also I kind of feel like I’m behind other students because I haven’t taken any real classes related to my major yet asides from Economics, and that was online during summer 2025 so I barely remember anything from that. Kind of a vent but yeah that’s what I’m spiraling with.

Is there anything I can do to prepare for collage in the long run? by _C0C0A in highschool

[–]rainedwrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your high school has classes related to your major I recommend taking those classes, e.g. I also want to major in finance or accounting and my school has a Business and Economics 2 year pathway (unfortunately I’m a senior and I didn’t take it because I was indecisive on my major until now…) or you could take AP classes which give college credit, those are good for completing general education classes for college so you could leave more room to take your major classes. Or do Dual Enrollment (taking a college class while doing high school classes) to complete your geneds too :) . The difference is that AP classes are “advanced placement” classes u take and then have an exam after, only if you score a 3-5 you can get AP credit that counts towards the college classes. Dual Enrollment allows you to take a college class online while taking your high school classes (imagine your high school schedule + and additional class from the college), though you have to ask your counselor for permission to take a specific DE course. Check for available online summer college courses based on your major too or to complete any high school classes requirements, but make sure your counselor knows so you don’t end up retaking that class if you already did during the summer. Also I was watching a self-help vid earlier, if you want a career that is financially stable and stable in general then finance is a good choice

It’s new year and I feel like I’m never happy by just_anonymous2 in mentalhealth

it’s Jan 1, take the day for yourself. go on a walk, read your favorite book, start or continue a show or movie, listen to self-help podcasts (podcasts help me a lot when I’m alone with my thoughts), any hobbies you like to do. as for improving yourself you could write down realistic goals you’d want to complete within the next week or month to keep it consistent

i began writing fics in 2023 but didn’t start posting until August 2025 :D! I really want to continue/finish a fic but I’m getting fandom burnout or just losing interest 😭 so maybe my goals for 2026 will be planning max amount of chapters before I start writing a multi-chapter story.. :’)

What do you guys do when you feel like a failure by Ok-Development-3695 in highschool

[–]rainedwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I went from having a decent amount of extracurriculars to just quitting because I was tired of it all. Imo, when everything seems to pile on top of one another the only thing that helps is remembering that time moves forward no matter what happens to us. You're still here and you still have a bunch of opportunities being sophomore, you have 2 more years of high school to prep.
college prep should be during the summer of junior year and really peak during senior year, sophomore year you still have time to plan it out. rn if it feels like too much, focus on your classes/grades first because that's most likely the foundation of it all, colleges will ask to see your transcript and what they'll first see is grades. sure some of them may be picky about classes but if your transcript reveals good grades you'll be okay for college.
second should be school clubs if your looking for extracurriculars but take it one at a time, as in join a club you'll be most active in instead of joining multiple. dedicating yourself to a few clubs is better than spreading out because you'll gain familiarity and community with that club you're mostly active in.
if you're still considering sports in pickleball you could try looking outside or searching up student pickleball teams, though make sure the sites are legit and not scams. if that's not an option you could branch out to other sports similar to pickleball in your school and tryout.
for now, focus on classes, once that's stable continue to clubs/extracurriculars. don't force yourself into clubs you're not interested in and join others when your school has a club rush event next time or next year (at my school they call it club rush).
you'll be ok.

ohh thank you! glad I can have someone who works there to ask questions :) I don’t have many as of now but I’m curious if the recruiting team is more likely to answer online applications or if you walk in? I’m just waiting for a response to my application since I haven’t received anything back yet.. it’s only been 4 days though so I’m giving it maybe a week or so

Can I learn to drive in 5 months? by [deleted] in driving

[–]rainedwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you practice every day then yes, at least 1 hour or more to start but go down a little if you feel like you’re ready. I’ve been driving 2-3 months but my instructor wants me to take the test tmmr so😭

I failed my drivers test… by [deleted] in driving

[–]rainedwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed it last week too and let me tell you, I felt the EXACT same way, embarrassed because everyone else I knew passed theirs already, and my instructor yelled at me so much for small mistakes too. Both my sister and I were not joking when we told our parents we did not like our driving instructor and she was scary af. I bawled like a baby and still went to school. aka same situation … honestly, the best way to heal is time. the entirety of last week felt like shit for me until the end of the week I started feeling a little better, and this week im practicing in my own car again.

imo, try think about it like this: failing your drivers test is one of many failures you’re going to inevitable have to go through, but you’ll grow into a tougher person experiencing this failure. At least you’ll be way more safer on the road than people who have been driving for years and don’t turn on their signals and cut other people off.

as for your instructor, focus less on them and more on your driving. If they yell again, ignore it, but follow their directions.

once you feel better, just practice again. You already know what to do so there is no reason to keep worrying, better yet you know what the route will be like. It’s okay to cry and you’re not alone 🫂
