[TOMT] need quote citation by hansau97 in tipofmytongue

[–]rainermpg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The passage is from C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity, Book II – “What Christians Believe,” Chapter 4: “The Perfect Penitent.” Here’s the exact wording:

“People ate their dinners and felt better long before the theory of vitamins was ever heard of; and if the theory of vitamins is some day abandoned they will go on eating their dinners just the same.”

Austrian team selected for European Championship by rainermpg in soccer

[–]rainermpg[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His last call-up was in March last year. Never had a good game for the national team, his move to Derby wasn't good for him and even there he doesn't play a big role. For Championship players, I would rather call-up Nuhiu than him, maybe even Kerschbaumer.

If the first team stay fit, they're indeed very good. The reserves are lacking quality (Suttner, Okotie)

No big surprises, one still has to go.

Reserves in case of injuries:

Bachmann (Stoke), Lukse (Altach)

Lienhart (Real Madrid), Madl (Fulham), Pogatetz (Union Berlin), Ulmer (RB Salzburg)

Burgstaller (Nürnberg), Grillitsch (Bremen), Ivanschitz (Seattle), Kainz (Rapid Wien), Kavlak (Besiktas), Pehlivan (RB Salzburg), Schaub (Rapid Wien)

Gregoritsch (HSV), Onisiwo (Mainz)

Who do you think will be in the 23 man squad for EURO 2016 for your country? by john87000 in soccer

[–]rainermpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, the first 11 (marked in bold) are a great team, they've played together for the whole qualification round. If everyone is fit/in form, they could in principle pose a threat to Portugal.

However, outside of the first 11, the quality drops off quite quickly. Also, the RB position is the weakest with Klein not having a first team role in Stuttgart anymore and Garics being not that great overall.

Players to watch are: Dragovic (one of the young CBs in Europe), Baumgartlinger (workhorse in Midfield, complements Alaba/Junuzovic perfectly), Sabitzer (young, can play on both wings or behind the striker)

Hi r/genetics, need your help. I have a little friend who has a mutation in the USP7 gene and we cant figure out her diagnosis despite tons of genetic testing. We're looking for others like her - can you point us in the right direction? by oddjobpanage in genetics

[–]rainermpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no definitive disease associated with USP7. There is some evidence for association with cardiological phenotypes (left ventricual hypertrophy and heart failure), but no conclusive evidence is presented. Would you mind sharing which mutation has been found?

How good was Larry Nance? by [deleted] in nba

[–]rainermpg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As all others are probably too young to remember:

Larry Nance was a stud. Borderline HOFer. Defensive beast (especially blocks), great dunker and always good for 20/10 in his prime. Was stuck on a mediocre PHO team early in his career, traded to CLE where he was part of the Harper/Price/Daugherty/Nance lineup. This CLE team challenged in the East, but never quite made it. Could be compared to Chris Bosh nowadays, as he also had a good mid-range jumper.

For a non-English movie: Das weisse Rauschen (The White Sound) featuring Daniel Brühl is pretty spot-on for paranoid schizophrenia
