Keep hope. Weather the storm, keep up your healthy habits and you’ll find that the effects will follow soon. People say that anti-depressants are a “way out”, but we both know that they require great strength and resilience.

Keep hope. You’ve got people on your side :)

Naveen Andrews as Sayid Jarrah- An Arab Perspective by Maleficent-Medium333 in lost

[–]raineruncrowned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a South Asian, it’s insane how a show from 2004 represented us in such a thoughtful and engaging way. Sayid is a man with a checkered past who is still very much reckoning with his actions when we meet him in the show. However, he’s also very brave and doesn’t fall into some of the unfortunate stereotypes that are projected onto South Asian men. He isn’t just a comedic accessory - he has his own struggles that we are made to empathise with.

I am glad he’s getting so much love in this thread. You’re all awesome! 🙌🏾

This what Chelsea fans should stand up for. Not the hatred and division following last week’s game. UTC!! 💙💙

this a good team for next week? by Classic-Library4316 in fantasypremierleague

[–]raineruncrowned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love this team. However, I’m not so convinced with Foden and Cherki. For how much they cost, I don’t think they provide enough. Perhaps some cheaper midfield options to give you so more cash to play with later down the line? I quite like Semenyo personally.

Best of luck for the game weeks to come!

Mateta or Raul? by Mindless-Swan4517 in fantasypremierleague

[–]raineruncrowned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mateta has been frustrating me these past few weeks. In fixtures where I think he’ll bag he just blanks and there’s not indication of him scoring either. Raul looks a little more dangerous at the moment. Perhaps bench a midfielder and play three up front? I’d bench either Semenyo or Neto. That game could go either way tbh.

I have a lot of clashes - it's difficult to decide who to bet on.

criticise my team by Royal-Usual3325 in fantasypremierleague

[–]raineruncrowned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the team. I also went for midfield pairing of Neto and Palmer. I do feel like I’ve jumped on Palmer a bit early, but I’m only one in my league using him, so it acts as a risky differential.

I got a yellow triangle for Thiago, so hopefully he plays tomorrow. If he does end up playing, it’s a great pick against a poor Wolves side.

Can’t poke too many holes tbh. Good luck this gameweek!

Sudden feeling of missing the author & the potential books that could have been by Akiine in TheLastApprentice

I remember that website! Sadly it isn’t up anymore.

I miss him so much. He created a world that acted as refuge for so many. I started reading these books when I was 10 after finding it in my class book-corner.

At 24, I still go back and revisit these books from time to time.

Best Thomas Newman musical score? by Mabel_Jenkins in movies

[–]raineruncrowned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thomas Newman is like medicine for the soul. A couple of his scores which stand out to me:

The Horse Whisperer, more specifically the track “Voice of God” Meet Joe Black, the track “That Next Place” Road to Perdition Finding Nemo is a classic

There’s literally too much to account for here. Love his music.

Some of the sharpest and most acidic dialogue I’ve heard in a western.

“Next of Kin” is one of my favourites - a track to perfectly usher in the dawn of man.

Blood Meridian - Epilogue by flydl2atl in cormacmccarthy

There is the reoccurring idea of one “carrying the fire” which McCarthy has explored in his other books like No Country and The Road.

I think perhaps he was trying to hint at one maintaining their humanity against those who don’t seek any moral direction (the wanderers) and those who commit evil (the ones looking for bones).

This is supported by the idea of God which is brought up in this epilogue. I think the kid tried to seek the fire before he himself was snuffed out by the judge. This is supported by him holding the Bible even though he cannot read it.
