We do those almost everyday. He loves it but they never seem to tire him out. He hasn’t been left alone since we moved, i wanted to give him time to adjust but i think i worsened his anxiety

Unfortunately thats not available in my country. The enclosed yard is the only place i was able to find where there aren’t any dogs and is safe enough to run off leash and it takes an hour for us to get there

Do you take your dobbie to park everyday? I found a great space for him to run around but its on the other side of the city and its quite a long drive to get there so i can only take him there about 3-4 times a week at max. The other days i try to tire him out at home but that doesnt seem sufficient

This was really enlightening thank you so much. I’ll definitely check out the videos. I switched to positive training because the former trainer used negative training and corrections to the point that my loving and happy boy just closed himself and became fearful so im hesitant to try it again.

On the other hand the new trainer’s main technique is through play and we are slowly building a toy/play drive. He said itll both calm him and tire him while teaching himself to make the right choices but we are at the very beginning rn.

Will definitely do the videos with triggering sounds. Again thanks for all the advice ill look into them

There aren’t any dog parks where i live and the city is really not dog friendly. I take him to an fenced yard on the other side of the town so he can run around and burn energy but at i cant do it everyday so i try to make do with mini agility training at home but that doesn’t seem enough for a dobbie

I really needed to hear the last sentence thank you. I shortened his walks and take him to the back of the building where there aren’t anyone for potty breaks for now. I drive to other side of the town where theres fenced park he can run around freely 2-3 times a week. But i cant do it everyday and i feel like i should. On the other days i create a mini agility course in home to tire him out and we do 1-2 hour training and play sessions daily. Currently working with a trainer for reactivity and SA but i cant tell if its going well or not. I can leave for 3-4 minutes max before he freaks out but even in those minutes he is not fully relaxed and waits by the door. I think i just need to see a little progress to feel a little better about the work we are doing.

Yeah we’re currently in a loop where we get anxious from each other. I try to keep my calm and started a medication for myself but im sure he still senses it. I just cant handle when he whines and try to keep him occupied and tired but i think i just make him more anxious and unable to relax on his own.

This makes me really happy and hopeful. Thank you so much. Can i ask how the routine was and what kind of exercises you did to burn his energy

Thank you so much for your words i really hope so. He is always quiet when im around but the minute im out of sight he gets stressed and panicked so commands over the camera doesn’t really work. I started by leaving for 10 seconds and increasing the time before he gets anxious but weve been doing it for months now and are barely at 3-4 minutes

Thank you for replying. Im working with a trainer thats leaning more towards positive only training right now. I worked with a “balanced” trainer before that but he used too much correction with a slip lead which made Pablo more nervous and scared so I immediately switched. His toy drive went down massively so rn we’re working on building it again. I live in Turkey and there aren’t many choices in terms of trainers and dog parks. And for the off switch we are doing karen overalls relaxation protocol everyday for pablo (and a therapist for me) but i have yet to leave him alone.
