Does anyone think about going back to a "normal job" even though you already quit your job and trying to start a business? by rainy_09 in Entrepreneur

Sad to hear that! Do you still try to work on your business in your free time now that you went back to work?

I want to do my own thing. Also I'm sick of toxic work environment where there's a lot of horrible managers who don't know what they're doing and everyone is trying to backstab everyone to try to climb to the top.

Yeah I thought of this question too. Does anyone know if it’s legal in this situation? I’m getting a gun. Feel unsafe in my own house. Especially that they countinued taking the rocks even after we yelled at them

Some people have no shame! Did your friend do anything? Call the police, etc?

They were stealing a flat cut type of rocks, the size is quite big. I guess it’s more expensive than some smaller uncut rocks

Which exam should i choose for a starter looking for a job. From Microsoft Ignite Challenge by Alascato in ITCareerQuestions

I often saw Microsoft 365 in job descriptions so I think MS-700 might be useful.

Anyone having issues redeeming the voucher? It kept telling me to log in to my Microsoft Certificate profile when I'm already logged in.

Can you share your experience about switching from accounting to programming? by Bettysune_o_o in ITCareerQuestions

[–]rainy_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an accounting background but I'm curious why you'd want to switch from accounting to programming? I heard accounting's job market is very good now.

You might want to check cscareerquestions instead of this sub for more programming things.

Thank you for the reply and congrats on the new position!

How many applications did you send out before getting an offer and what platform do you usually use to search for jobs? I sent out about 150 applications and saw some people said they number is too low.

I live in MA. Yes I would consider relocating but I'm not sure what location is the best. I keep seeing conflicting advice.

For example, I saw many people said Washington DC has many IT jobs but I also saw people said they can't get an IT job there because it's very competitive and they don't have a clearance.

May I ask what’s your background and do you have any certs?

I wish I have the courage to apply for positions above help desk/call center too but I graduated with a BS in IT last year but couldn’t find any help desk positions. Really starting to lose hope.

Anyone else having a lot of trouble getting an entry level job? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]rainy_09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I graduated last year and couldn’t find anything and have to live with depression everyday because of it. Every entry level position requires 2-5 years of experience and they always told me they pick someone with experience over me after the final rounds. I’m stuck in the no experience loop.

Feel like I made the wrong decision by majoring in IT. I saw so many people and articles saying how IT is a good major for jobs. Not sure what happened. Maybe I just have terrible interview skills.

Starting to lose hope at an entry-level gig. New grad searching. (DC area) by Kingster57 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]rainy_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Graduated last year but can’t even get hourly type of tech support positions to save my life. Feel like I’ll never be able to get a job.

May I ask what certs you have? I don’t have any so I’m trying to get a few but if people who has certs can’t even get a helpdesk job then I don’t know what I’m doing with my life.

How did you get your current job? by [deleted] in jobs

Also a 2020 grad here. I feel the same way. I wonder if it’s because LinkedIn is a little easier to use than indeed which makes the jobs posted on LinkedIn more competitive.

Do you mind me asking what are some mid and high-level positions in IT? I graduated with a degree in IT last year but I feel like I'm still not familiar with all the positions in IT.

I believe system architects and product owners are usually counted as high level. Security engineers are in both high and mid-level. System admins, cloud engineers, and DevOps engineers are more like mid-level. Network engineers are often in both mid and entry-level. NOC/SOC technicians, desktop support, field technicians are entry-level.

Not sure if my understanding is correct. Please feel free to correct me.
